Money And Gaming

Hello everyone so today I will be writing about how money has changed the gaming society both in good ways and bad way also, how it as ruin the fun, the stress you had to go through to achieve the objectives and the strenuous thinking, and the after joy and happiness upon completing a stage and an objective but now not so much.

I remember like it was yesterday early in the 190’s when I first played Ultimate Morkat kombat via the Sega Mega Drive console, how we had to code to bring in new characters as well as unlock the hidden deep within the MK, yes I remember it clearly like it was yesterday, when you had to input this keys upon the start-up A C ↑ B ↑ B A ↓ and the sound you had next was excellent and a new page is shown to you comprising of various sub menu that were initially hidden within the game.

I remember how you could input a code that would shorten your opponent’s life point and give you an advantage towards the match outcome, with this you didn’t have to go all out to win your competition and also the fatalities.

Oh!, the fatalities upon beating your opponent, you are presented with a short amount of time which could as well be increased and gives you more time to perform this action.

I remember how we used to play International Super Star Soccer Deluxe and how we could make the ball vanish from the field, used to call it vanishing trick and you could beat your opponents 10-0 by just pressing this code immediately match starts, sweet old memories but at last everything as its end and the future is not as interesting as back then.

Money in gaming community as affected it so much were every aspect of gaming requires the user putting in some amount of money to fasten his/her progress no longer a fair play system, now what we see is the user with the highest money gets to decide the outcome of the match.

Sportsmanship is no longer available, remember how we used to battle on Contra via the Nintendo game system, where you had to play through each stage with your co-player and all it required then was to play as hard as possible and avoid getting killed, back then it was quite competitive to see who progresses furthest but today we see a different story. As a user just have to upgrade his player and give him more advantage over others making him triumph in the gaming room.

Skills are no longer required when gaming anymore, back then when playing street fighter on the Nintendo console a character with low power can defeat a high ranking character due to the skill of the controller, in other words when you play a NOOB with a low ranking character you can easily win but today we see an entirely different thing as a character with low ranking will not be able to deal proper damage to a more upgraded character, probably money has been spent to upgrade it up.

Although many of new games produce now comes with added advantage when using money, example changing of character looks in game, you can now change your character looks to a more advance and fearsome form by just spending a little amount of token and you become different from the others, many might find this useful but what about other players that don’t have money to spend or don’t like spending money in game what say you about them? They don’t have the right to login anymore to access that beautiful world we all enjoy which sometimes ease depression? No, I say everyone should be giving equal advantage when playing a game but on the other hand gaming as we know it is gradually becoming more lifelike.
3.jpgImage Source

Lifelike in such a way that, it is not fair and we all have to work hard to get the things we all want to acquire, it can be anything and everything but we all have our desires and money is the order of the day to acquire those things we desire but gaming is a platform that should take us away from this harsh world reality and you putting money into it, makes it no longer worth playing.

So I say today, bring back the game I know, bring back the game I used to play, bring back that sportsmanship feeling I used to experience with friends and family, where I don’t have to pay to surpass others, but level the field and everybody should be giving a fair fight not a straight pattern where the user who spends more triumph over others on every stage, let us change the present and bring back something old today.

After all the fun about gaming is the community and in a community there is bound to be those a little bit less privilege than others, but at the end we all cherish this game and hold it close to our heart, you separating it from others we no longer bring about that community rather it will diversify it and makes a process whereby only those with money will be able to have fun while playing and the others would be left behind.

On the other hand you could create a system whereas those who are willing to spend money and mover faster should be given access to a separate room and those who are willing to play without spending should have theirs also.

It’s not fun when you create a gaming account same time with your neighbor and watch him move 5x faster than you, when you devote more time playing than he does, so why not level the field for all and bring back the game I know and cherish not the one I play today. Which has been corrupted with monetary value and only the rich gets to have fun.

Looking back as I was a kid, I had little or nothing but my game then was like a companion to me then as well as to many others and even though there was nothing at times, the game always kept us occupied and make us forget the cruel world out there.

Gaming is not all about achieving a goal, objective or completing a mission but it brings about communication and builds friendship with others all over the world with our present multiplayer system where users don’t have to play in a single system but rather, we can now play a single game across many systems and you attaching monetary value to it would just make it a little less fun for majority of us.

Although there are some free to play games around and all I can say is thank you to all those that works tireless to see us play these games we all love once again without having to worry about using money.

Below is a chart showing the amount of money spent by a single player on mobile gaming at 2015

Although I don't know how accurate that chart is but it is quite clear that money is what makes games interesting these days.

So till next time have fun and keep gaming.

wellcom

great to see that the Game of War - Fire Age tops all mobile games.

I really love this game..

lol nice seems you love that game a lot

This is a great post with so much detail. Thank you for posting this I have posted a meme similar to this about how games us money as cheat codes these days.

yes its really sad, when you log into a multi-player platform instead of you to enjoy the game, you keep getting killed by player who have invested money into the system having better equip which can only be unlocked by money.
What happen to those days we had to complete certain level before we get access to some special equip tool

I agree it's terrible when this happens and it's far too common in games these days.

exactly

well said brother #truth

wow thanks for your comment much appreciated

Great post! It's a total shame that people can buy themselves upgrades or extra items to advance within gaming, especially when it's player vs player. It actually puts me off playing a lot of games online.

same goes for me but then we just have to convince ourselves to play usually prefer PVE because of this

nice post..though i'm not really a game freak but i love the way you made that pos..nice one

thanks means a lot to me
