A friend of mine linked me to a game called ZType. In this game, words fly vertically downwards, trying to bring about the demise of your spaceship. Your only means of defence is a single laser cannon, which is controlled by your keyboard.
In order to postpone your inevitable doom, you blast down these enemy words by typing their constituent letters. As the waves of enemies come and go, the words get longer, and they bring more friends with them. Eventually, they start spraying random letters at you, which is hard to defend against.
ZType is a great way to practice touch typing, and its hi-tech aesthetic makes it a pleasure to play. I can highly recommend sinking some time into it!
Here are the results of my first game:
Score: 1982 Reached: Wave 16 Accuracy: 94.7% Longest streak: 207
You can see it in action in this YouTube video, and in the screenshot below:

We used something similar in high-school to teach us touch writing :)
But this one looks heaps better visually!
Would you mind if I included this in todays "best of gaming" post?

Thanks @gaming-trail! I'm more than happy for you to do so :) I think it has a great look and feel. The motion is really fluid and the "controls" feel really tight (even though they're simple).
