Do you remember Flappy Bird? Such stupidity, when a little bird tries to fly through gaps in the pipes and the only way to control it is to tap on the display and try to keep it at the necessary height. That's what playing Evil Cogs reminded me of. You'll be angry a lot. Flappy Bird had the advantage of controlling only in two directions, but the main hero of Evil Cogs must be controlled in all directions.
I played it for about an hour yesterday. I thought I'd finish the first chapter, but my nerves didn't allow me that. I had to turn it off and go to relax while writing this article.
Plot
In the dark world, light is born (unexpectedly). It is our main hero, and your task is to guide him on his journey to destroy the darkness.

Graphics and sound
Graphics are simple, and that simplicity is the beauty. The dark world has something in it, and despite all that dying, you just have to fall in love with that small light. Thematic music and dubbing also make the game more gloomy. I like it a lot. In the first level, some dark voice is putting you into action, and it sounds great.

Gameplay
How can you control the light? Either by clicking on the right side of the display or the left. The main hero chooses direction according to that. But of course, that's not all. We don't have to forget the Flappy Bird principle. The length of the touch on display adjusts the height. The first levels are simple (unexpectedly), but after them, the real fun begins. You will tear your hair with despair because you'll die a lot and the rollback will be so unbearable, that you'll have to retake most of the obstacles. But to make this despair less terrible, you can get boosts for the game currency, and in some levels, there are jumpers, accelerators, etc. to make the journey easier. Or more difficult. Occasionally, the jumper shoots you straight into the trap. The gameplay is terrible for me, but that's the intention to make some challenge.

Collecting stars
Perhaps in all such games, it is possible to collect extra things and gain the stars. In our case, you have to obtain a specific number of light seeds in each level to get a star. But they are moving, so with Flappy Bird movement, it's quite impossible to get them. After a couple of levels, I stopped dealing with them. I didn't even know how they could be used. In every such game, there is something to buy or open for stars, but here you can only collect them to fulfill quests.

Game currency
The game currency can be purchased in several ways:
- Microtransaction (unexpectedly).
- Finishing levels.
- Collecting light seeds and stars.
- Watching ads.
- Fulfilling quests.
![Screenshot_20180110-181839.png](https://steemitimages.com/640x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmX3TfGotVnDpBMqf5KLFpKaxX26wJy3uMZ9rG3G6m2mU3/Screenshot_20180110-181839.png)
You can use it to buy various boosts to facilitate the game. But they didn't help me much, so I didn't buy them at all. But what I appreciate is a tutorial. Each game forces you to buy something in the tutorial for a precious currency. Here it was solved by getting the required amount of coins for free and then spending it. Thumbs up for this approach.

Ads
The game was created in Unity, so I fully understand that the ads are there. But that they are triggered after the completion of each level? Well, are you kidding me?! I don't know anything more annoying. Fortunately, after about 5 seconds, ⏩ appears and you can skip the advertisement, but it is still annoying. So I recommend playing the game without internet connection.
Languages
And I have a great message for everyone who prefers games in their language and not in English (I originally wanted to write for all who don't speak English, but how would you read it? :D). The game is translated into many languages (some of them are not in the screenshot because the list was pretty long). The language is set automatically according to your phone settings, and it can't be changed in the game.

Summary
This game is great for everyone who likes a challenge and doesn't throw the mobile against the wall after the first failure. You're going to get stuck, maybe you'll tear your hair off, but it can get you some fun for a few hours.
💙 Thank you for reading! 💙

My high score in Flappy Bird was 5 max :D It was annoying game.
And I think that also Badland is similar game. I never played it, but I was looking at my classmates over their shoulder.

Yeah badland is very similar to that but boring as hell. I know the screenshots look amazing but after a few minutes you start wondering why the hell did you need to try the actual thing in the first place. And then you go like : OMG i am too lazy to delete it, aaaah :D

Hi @pipiczech,
I saw your comment on moon32walkers post about why he is getting flagged. I'm someone who has built themselves up from absolute scratch here. In fact, in my entire time here I have had exactly ONE post make over $100 (you can check my blog history).
I wanted to support you as I know how hard it is to make wonderful posts and not get the rewards you deserve while others self-vote and otherwise game the system.
It is actions from those sorts of people that do not promote a platform for user growth. As people come and see this sort of behavior and turn away. Cryptocurrencies get their value from the number of users that find them useful. So the more people using Steemit, the more valuable Steem becomes and we all win.
Those just out for themselves are the worst kind of people.
I just wanted to let you know that there are good people here too, which I know you know but sometimes it can be hard to see.
All the best,
@getonthetrain

Wow, thanks a lot for the support! I have to admit that I was hoping somehow that someone will notice me, but I didn't stick to it. There are people who need support more than I. If I wrote an article every day and it was just gaming; I'd be doing better. But I have my own life, now I have exams, so I don't have much time for Steemit (since February it should change, I plan to create a smaller community and competition :) ).
Against upvoting posts of their own, I don't have anything at all, I do it myself, but when it comes to a whale whose upvote has enormous value, it looks a little awkward. I think they would earn almost the same amount of money if they only supported others because if one looks at their curation rewards, they can make a lot just by curation. Their curation rewards are similar to the payout of our good posts. Also, a lot of sheep, which are hoping to get noticed, is following them so they would earn quite a bit even without upvoting their posts.
It annoys me a long time, but I was afraid to express myself more publicly because their flag could destroy all my efforts.
When I think about it, it would be great if every whale/dolphin had some mentoring or just picked one minnow (always one at a time to avoid being abused) that is a benefit to Steemit and helped him grow up to a point where he would stand on his own feet (he had enough people to read and support him, so he wouldn't need a mentor anymore). High-quality authors would be more motivated, and spammers, shitpost creators, etc. would have no chance. I think it would help the whole community. But it's just an idea.
And I know that there are also good people, but in trending, man faces mainly the rest because a huge payout attracts attention.
So once again thanks a lot for what you do :)

I couldn't get into flappy bird, well not to the point of it being addicting. @combofrenzy does remind me of limbo and there is another game I've seen in the PS store. I'll give it a try or at least pass it on to friends of mine that are heavy mobile game players. My 9yr. old niece is my test dummy for mobile games if she can play it while talking to me to explain what it is and how to play without skipping a beat. I don't play it....lol

Flappy Bird was a terrible game, I didn't get to it, and I was furious all the time. At Evil Cogs, the controls are very similar, but it's not that hard at the beginning.
Children are good test subjects because most of the hard games usually discouraged them. Well, especially those who have some understanding, younger kids don't care about the game, it is enough that they can play with the mobile :D

Nice review of the game. I am not a gamer but I hope that your similar minded person will find it helpful.

Thank you, I'm just writing my insights. I've never written posts about games. I started with it on Steemit. Each of us sometimes plays a mobile game so why not to make some post about it and help the developers to get more players :)
