Gaming Culture: Does the Gaming industry have a Gambling problem?

All these gambling and lootbox stuff is a really questionable development. I wouldn't even exclude these mobile games that are basically made to make you put more and more money into them from todays gaming industry. Just have a look at the big publishers who see, that this shit is working and therefor sneak this kind of "grind" or pay more mechanics into our beloved "real" video games. They are not even implementing lootboxes in their games, they even build whole game concepts around a lootbox system. I really fear for the future of the gaming industry or do I just overreact?
