Everyone is anticipating this conference, because well, its Sony. Sony has been rocking it the last three years and also is in possession of the most anticipated games in recent memory. Will there be any real surprises this year? We already got a release date of Kingdom Hearts III, will we be getting one the Final Fantasy 7 remake? Well, its a no-show at Square Enix but maybe they were saving it for Sony? What about The Last of Us and Death Stranding? Well, let's go find out.

Last of Us Part II

Source
The conference unofficially starts as Shawn Layden CEO of sony interactive welcomes everybody to the conference, he explains that they won't go the PC Gaming Show route. Instead of just bombarding people with a bunch of games one after the other, they will instead focus on taking the consumers into a deeper understanding of what is going on in with the said games that will be presented. Which means, we're going to have a lot of gameplay footage shown at this year's Sony E3. Shawn then introduces Mr. Gustavo Santaolalla the man behind the music for The Last of Us to perform an intermission number for our audience. Of course, this means that the first game to be featured in the conference is none other than The Last of Us II. The first official gameplay footage for Last of Us II has finally been revealed and it featured a grown-up Ellie just hanging out and finding love but of course, since we can't really have nice things, we then flash forward to a time where it seems Ellie is facing of a bunch of enemies. This is where we finally see the gameplay and it seemed to be a much more streamlined version of the original. You can dodge and shoot in a much more fluid manner and you react to your surrounding with more precision than usual. It also seems that you can now customize your arrow on the fly. Unfortunately, there is still no release date for the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Back in Black Maps

We then go to our panel of host for a quick intermission. We have Sid Shuman, Ryan Clements and the CEO of Shawn Layden exchanging in banter about the trailer that was shown for The Last of Us II. They also talked about the other games that will be featured, the success of God of War and PlayStation Plus. We then go to our next announcement as it turns out Call of Duty: Black Ops III is getting a new DLC in the form of Back in Black Maps.

Short Trailer Showcase

After that trailer, we then go back to the panel as a recap of some of the most recent reveals are highlighted in a short teaser trailer. We have Tetris Effects, Days Gone, Twin Mirror, Ghost Giant and the VR game Beat Saber.

Destiny 2: Forsaken

Source
We once again go back to our panel. It looks like the showcase is about to officially start but before we do it looks like the panel is going to squeeze out one more game reveal. And it turns out it's the sequel for Destiny. Destiny 2: Forsaken will be available on 09/04/2018.

Ghost Of Tsushima

Source
The showcase finally truly begins as we cut to uhhh... a windpipe? bag pipe? I really don't know what that instrument is called... let's call it a weird ass flute. A man is shown on stage playing a weird ass flute as an introduction to our next game on the list. Looks like Sucker Punch is going head to head with FromSoftware as it also introduces its own samurai based game in the form of Ghost Of Tsushima. In contrast to the gameplay showed on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice at the Microsoft Conference, instead of grappling hooks and over the top battles, it seems The Ghost of Tsumima would focus on parrying and technical gameplay.

Control

Source
From Samurais we now go to a futuristic Inception looking game. Not much is known about the game but it seems to be a Supernatural Shooter, where you kill enemies either by shooting at them or using some weird psychic power. Control looks like a very interesting game but no release date as of yet.

Resident Evil 2 Remake

Source
And then, from the darkness... comes another darkness. We are revealed to a game, that could very well be the true reveal of the night. It starts out from a perspective of an unknown creature, we later find out that the creature was actually a rat. We hear a couple of voices as it seemed like a struggle is going on. We later find out that a zombie is attacking someone. The bite is made and the person is killed as a close up of the zombie is shown, and then the zombie's head is blown off with a gunshot. Who took the shot? Well, my friend... It's none other than Leon Motherfucking Kennedy! Yes, Resident Evil is back and its bringing the horror back with Resident Evil II Remake to be released on 01/25/2019.

Trover Saves The Universe

Source
From one of the creators on Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty, comes a game I don't think I can ever truly describe. Its a weird looking platforming adventure game coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR. The release date is yet to be announced.

Kingdom Hearts III

Source
Another trailer for Kingdom Hearts is shown, as this time its confirmed that the Pirates of the Caribbean will join in the mix of worlds Sora, Donald and Goofy are going to be traversing in. It seems the Pirates section is going to be set during the At World's End timeline of the movie series.

Death Stranding

Source
We finally get to see gameplay footage of one of the most anticipated games in the roster. The love child of one of the most decorated man in gaming history, Hideo Kojima and highly acclaimed horror director, Guillermo del Toro, Death Stranding. I would really love to describe what the gameplay is, but to be honest I don't really know how. It looks like you'd be traversing around the world using a baby as a radar to avoid what looks like shadow creatures. Oh and Linsay Wagner famous actress and celebrity show's up at the end for some reason... this game is weird. I'm going to buy it.

Nioh 2

Source
Next is a short trailer from Team Ninja. This comes as unexpected as it turns out Nioh the action RPG release early last year is already getting a sequel with Nioh 2. Not much is known yet about the game.

Spider Man

Source
The last game in the showcase is for Marvel's Spider-man as a 10-minute gameplay footage is shown. The video is comprised of multiple clips showing off different elements of Spider-Man. Swinging, punching and kicking its way on a stage were he goes in pursuit of electro in what seems to be a prison. The gameplay is impressive as it also incorporates spidey's spider sense into the actual gameplay. More enemies are shown as Scorpion, Vulture, Rhino, and Mister Negative also shows up. Things are looking great for this IP and we don't need to wait that long to play it as Spiderman will be available on September 7, 2018.
This was actually a good showing for Sony, all things considered, there was no overabundance of games so the people watching can take it in, and most of the games showed actually featured gameplay. There are really no surprises though, except Resident Evil 2. And it looks like there are still no news for the Final Fantasy 7 remake. A pretty well well-done conference serviceable enough but it just seems to lack the amp Sony has been known for on the last 3 years. We Finally go to Day 4 of E3 and see what Nintendo have up its sleeve.
