A few nights ago on 'Twitch' a popular game streaming service. A streamer by the name of Lucia Omnomnom went topless on her stream in her living room, after presumably thinking the stream had ended. Twitch banned her for 3 days but reinstated her privileges after a day. After which she was promoted to a twitch partner, similar to becoming verified on Twitter. The move has garnered much backlash from the gaming community because of other streamers who have been perma-banned or given hefty suspensions for less.
The Incident
At first, I heard this was a nipslip on Twitch, which didn't catch my attention at all. In the world of the Fappening when you can freely look at Leslie Jones' butthole, who cares about a loose corner of an areola. I saw a few Youtubers talk about it and none showed the clip I knew something was up. I then decided to look into it some more.
The incident took place at the end of Lucia’s IRL stream. Twitch IRL category is a section for non-gaming activities on the game streaming site and you can see the activities there, take a look yourself.
At the assumed end of her stream, she picks up her phone and taps on it a few times. She then removes her shirt and then her bra scratching her back a bit. Her breasts are fully exposed for 10-20 seconds until the stream ends.
What it Means/My thoughts
I am all for expressing yourself, plus sex on the internet isn't going anywhere. On a platform, primarily aimed at kids, content like this is should not be so easily available. Especially when kids who don't know any better are using their parent's credit cards to send these women money for highly sexualized behavior. A $5 donation on twitch its not a big thing to most parents, but if it was Chaturbate little Bobby would have some explaining to do.
It violates Twitch's TOS, but hey, tons of companies do this if it means turning a buck. After her suspension she was made a partner at Twitch, only being on the platform for roughly two months. Sending a message that behavior like this might just get you a slap on the wrist, but also an incoming promotion. This comes at the cost of streamers who grind daily to get good at games, improve their on-cam persona and the investments they make in recording equipment.
Aside, I know a few guys who spend thousands just to get the best performing rigs to make things better for their viewing audience not to mention discord duties and podcasts for said streams. Just to scrape by and make a couple bucks, partnership seeming way out in the distance.
Conclusion
Will Twitch end such behaviour? Nope. As Lucia said in one clip: "More chest, more views." It’s not the death of Twitch, just another thumbtack in the coffin. I have nothing against this lady, she probably just realized she could get on here make some money, gain fame and gather some attention. Which she has done, very succesfully.
Gamers will keep ranting and raving, but nobody listens to them anyway. That’s why they end up with AAA half-finished, buggy releases thrown at them every quarter. In time these practices of a website claiming to promote gaming culture while allowing people who don't play games or play very well to prosper from sexuality will catch on. Either they will have to change or a viable alternative that allows serious gamers to get their deserved accolades and earn a decent income will arise. Sucks that DLive went to another blockchain, we Steemians have to press on. Thanks for reading and enjoy some rock hard b(.)(.)bs below:
