Games that Make FUN of You for Playing on Easy Mode! - Gaming Top 5 - Part 46.

There are a select few games that will make fun of you if you select the easiest difficulty mode when playing. (and rightly so)

Ever since i read This Post the other day by @vladalexan, it reminded me of the chicken hat in Metal Gear Solid V which makes the game so much easier to play but mocked you while you played by sticking a great big chicken hat on the characters head. After some digging, I found some more games that make fun of you in a similar fashion.

So here are 5 games that take the piss out of you for playing on the easiest difficulty setting.

5 – Deadpool.

Yes, the Merc with the mouth was an instant gaming hit a full 3 years before the movie was released and it is as good as you think, well, the comedy side is.
The game looks very good for the time it was released, the graphics are spot on, the game mechanics are excellent and the whole 4th wall breaking vibe that Deadpool is known for works all to well. But the game itself felt very repetitive, so much so, that on the harder settings, there is more and more henchmen that you have to defeat and the bosses take some killing to,,,, kill.
Hidden within the depravity that Deadpool is best known for is the Easy mode. The mode is labelled with the face of Deadpool himself, sucking on a dummy/pacifier, all though it is not original as the dummy can be seen in other games, it is the name of the mode ''Genetically Superior'' which pokes fun at you even further by mocking the fact you think your better than everyone else despite your playing the easy mode on the game.

4 – Castlevania 64.

This was a very popular game on previous consoles, but when it came to the 64, the game saw a complete redesign into the world of 3d.
On the earlier games of Castlevania, there was no difficulty selection, its difficulty was whatever the Devs thought was right, and they thought wrong, as they were utter bastards to play because they had ramped the difficulty up to 11. thankfully though, on the N64 version of the game, they did give you the option of selecting your own difficulty setting, but if you chose the easy setting, half of the game is locked off. Basically after the game starts getting good right after the nitro magic, you can not go any further. So the Devs in other words gave you the middle finger and forcing you to play at a higher difficulty setting to actually complete the game, which is near impossible as it is hard as hell.

3 – Splosion Man & Ms. Splosion Man.

This is a very twisted platform game to begin with, and funnily enough, it was developed by Twisted Pixel Games.
But if you have not played Splosion Man and the Sequel, then you are missing out. This game is based around scientist accidentally creating a female version of Splosion Man. The platform takes many elements which can be found in various other platforms, such as puzzles, mechanics, jump pads, speed and much more, but meshes it altogether in this very fun and strangely addictive game.
If you die too many times in the standard difficulty on the first game, you can access ''the Way of the Coward'', which will allow you to skip a level. Bonus right? Wrong. If you do choose to skip the level, you are forced to wear a tutu in the next level until you complete it. This game however punishes you even further by rounding all your scores for the level down to zero and Ms Splosion's ass grows bigger each time you do this, slowing her down, thus making it more difficult. As an added plus, the Big Butts song plays in the background, insulting you even further.

2 – Spiderman – PS1 2001.

This game was praised when it came out in 2001 for its game play mechanics and story telling, but that was only half the story.
Like so many other spiderman games before and after this one, it felt very underwhelming and repetitive. Especially if you ever got stuck on boss fights. To solve this the creators of the game added 3 difficulty settings, easy, medium and hard, nothing strange there... but they also included a 4th option for those that need all the help they can get. ''Kids Mode''. Probably designed for those under the age of 5 to make them feel as though they have accomplished something.
In Kids mode, the game will take over half of the gameplay and some portions of battle, while lowering the AI on the enemies to such a low degree, the game is pretty much rendered useless. To poke even more fun at you, spiderman even gives you not so subtle hints at what you should be doing in the game. So if you are over the age of 5, and use kids mode, you should be ashamed of yourself, if the game hasn't already made you feel worthless.

1 – Twisted Metal 2.

Improving massively over the first instalment of this brief franchise, twisted metal 2 was an absolute blast to play and very enjoyable.
You should think of this game as a demolition derby with big fucking guns put in there for good measure.
In the single player campaign, each level is just a massive arena for you to battle in with other NPC cars, after you have defeated all of them in the arena, you have to face down a boss in order to progress onto the next arena. This continues on until the game is completed. Well, that is only if you are playing on the medium or hard difficulty levels of the game. If however you decided to play on the easy mode of the game, there is not much difference in game play apart from the enemies are slightly easier to kill. But once you have defeated the first boss, you are greeted with a big stop sign that reads...

''Stop!, No losers allowed beyond this point. You must switch to medium or hard to continue.''

A bit harsh removing the majority of the game and calling you a looser, it was was almost as bad as being slapped in the face with a wet fish. Maybe it was done intentionally because the devs couldn't be bothered to configure the rest of the game for people who want to play all of it on easy. Well that is what I believe anyway.

Kids today are spoiled with the difficulty options in games. Retro gamers / people who grew up in the 70's and 80's had to play the game on the difficulty setting the devs deemed fit for us. Most of the time, the games back then were sometimes beyond hard to play. This in turn has hardened us to the point that we, well, I set all the games I play to the hardest difficulty level possible, it just makes the games more enjoyable if the games are more challenging to play. So if the Devs decide to make fun of those who choose to play on Easy, then so be it. I would probably do the exact same thing.

I beat Halo: Reach on Legendary, solo. I have the Xbox achievement to prove it. That was... not at all fun, to be honest. But no controllers were snapped or thrown in the process!

haha... i have been known to break keyboards from time to time... well, when i was much younger.

I've followed your blog a long time ago. Nice post.

I had some good laughs from Deadpool game, but I didn't play it in easy difficulty. So I wonder if there's more than that, like.. maybe Deadpool will mock the player (after you start playing) if you play in easy mode or something like that..

Anyway, nice post! And thanks for mentioning me as one of the recommended.

no worries dude.

You did a great job. Keep it up. Can I resteem it ?

if you actually resteemd anything to your blog then i would say yes.

Tks. I have resteemed !

Informative post. Good, carry on.

thanks and No. having a look at the code in the site you linked its not only full of malware, but it also has a hidden miner in it too and soaks up about 20-40% of cpu usage while on the site. so i think its best if i avoid it.
