What is Game Dev Tycoon?

Game Dev Tycoon is a game development simulator, and it was developed by Greenheart Games. It was released on December 10 2012.

Story

You start out as a lone game developer, who starts out developing games in his/her garage. But if you make the right business decisions you can turn your one man team into a AAA game developer.

Here is where you can customize your main developer, and name your game studio.

Gameplay

Depending on what decisions you make during development will determine how well your game does. You could make the best looking game with great gameplay. But then when it comes to marketing said game you might not have enough funds to make the game a bestseller.

This is how you start out.

Music; Sound, and Visuals

All three of these aspects go great with the game.

Final Thoughts

This game is a accurate depiction of how game development works, minus the programming part of said development. In fact I have actually made a very small game a few years back. So I kind of know what it is like to make games. In my opinion this game is worth the $10 price. You can get this game for PC.

I'll tell you what, a simulation just makes it look easy, I do the real thing and its no picnic. I create my own models and texture them, do my own programming occasionally but most times hire people to help with that part. Its kinda fun in a way cause you get to be creative, but at other times very stressful when you set yourself a deadline and have to push out things that may or may not work correctly. Like in some of my own articles I have been posting about Chain of Conflict, the first person shooter I am currently working on. I have a deadline to meet in the next week for version 0.18a and I know its not going to be great as I had shelved the game almost half a year ago due to real life issues, then decided it was time to work on it again 2 weeks ago. Really stressful but I will meet my deadline.

i know what you mean. For example I entered a game design competition and I won state. Then I got to go to the national level. Around the time I was suppose to go I was have computer issues. So I had to wipe my hard drive with my game still in it, and because of that I had to redevelope it two days before the competition.

Oh I never am worried about having to lose the files, I always have multiple backups lying around on flash drives or on other HDD, which is a very handy habit to get into. I have never entered into a competition though, I bet that was a great experience.
