What is Kerbal Space Program?

Kerbal Space Program is a space flight simulation game it was developed by squad, and was first released on April 27 2015

Gameplay

The goal of the game is to get a spacecraft into space, and exploring the solar system. Doing this is not an easy task to accomplish, unless you are an experienced Rocket scientist. There are three modes in KSP (Kerbal Space Program) which include; Sandbox where you can build spacecrafts without consequence, then you have science mode where you have to research technologies in order to use them, and lastly there's career which simulates running an actual space program.

This is the astronaut complex, here is where all the crew members are housed.

This is mission control here is where you control the aspects of a mission.

This R&D here is where you research new technologies to be used.

This is vehicle assembly, as you can see I threw together a very simple rocket in under ten minutes.

This is the launch platform, as you can see here I am about to launch all can say for the crew is good luck.

If anyone is curious I managed to get the rocket very high, but before it could get into orbit it ran out of fuel and shortly after it plummeted back onto the planet. (there were no survivors)

Presentation

This game has a realistic depiction of running a space program. For example you have to calculate what to put on your spacecraft, and what not to put on it in order to successfully launch into the solar system.

Final Thoughts

There is a steep learning curve on account of all the moving parts in the game. But if you like these types of games I recommend it. Me personally I like to just build impractical rockets, and see if they are able to launch successfully or explode before leaving the ground. In fact the rocket that you saw above I counted on it exploding right at launch. You can get this game for; PS4, XBOX ONE PC, and soon Wii U for the price of $40.

Kerbal Space Program is probably the most amazing game ever created. I've been enjoying it on and off for over 2 years now. I've probably spent around 1400 hours playing. I've mastered much, yet there is so much more to learn and do. Thank you for sharing your review of this game. It's good to see KSP getting some love here.

I just made another article on it. I think i have more than 100000 minutes :D

I think it's a great way to bring new people into science. OK, they will not get to Jool in the first run, but they will have loads of fun..

My boyfriend loves playing this game. He will literally sit in front of the computer for hours testing, adjusting and retesting everything. well done on writing an article that a non gamer like me can understand and appreciate.

Yes but when he launches he goes straight to Duna and captures 100% of its science in one run :D

Hi @tygergamer,

I'm not really much of a gamer myself, but this review caught my eye because I am a space program geek. This looks like a really cool game, especially the spacecraft design and modeling.

I think I could really get into a game that would let me model spacecraft along the lines of the SpaceX Falcon and their new heavy lifter design with the 3x performance Raptor engines. You know, the one that Elon Musk intends to use to colonize Mars... Have you seen Musk's presentation about that? :)

If you come across other space games, especially ones that have a good level of realism in the ability to design and simulate, I'd love to hear about them, Thanks! ;)
