What is Psychonauts?
Psychonauts is a platforming game developed by Double Fine Productions, and was first released on April 19 2005.
Story
You play as Razputin who runs away to Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp. Which is a training camp for Psychonauts. Raz has to try and become a Psychonaut in one day before his parents come and get him the fallowing day. During this time someone starts steeling the brains of the children.
This is Razputin.
Gameplay
Raz has to traverse through many minds ranging from; a war veteran, too the mind of a mutated lungfish these are just a few of the minds that you get to explore. The first half of the minds you explore focus on teaching you what you need to know about the game. The second half has you going through mental asylum inmates, and bringing them back to sanity. There is also a hub world that can also be explored, but it is not as interesting as going through individual minds.
This is the psychic abilities selection menu. Raz's abilities range from; telekinesis, to invisibility just to name a few.
This is the Psycho-portal which allows you to enter the minds of others.
This is the subconscious here is where all the minds that you have previously visited are connected.
This is Linda the mutated lungfish I mentioned earlier.
This is the mind of Linda. Here in her(?) mind Razputin is the giant monster, but in reality she(?) is the giant monster. (in truth she is not a monster thought)
Presentation
This game has some of the best design choices from the way each mind is designed, to the humor in the games dialogue.
Final Thoughts
This game is excellent, and I really recommend it especially if you want to play a solid 3D platformer. Psychonauts is for; PS2, PS3, PS4, XBOX, XBOX 360, XBOX ONE, and PC for the price of $10.
