Take a look of a Classic: Doom

in gaming •  7 years ago
Doom, this mythical first-person action game, was developed by the company ID Software and distributed by GT Interactive in the case of Windows and in consoles by various companies such as Activision for GBA, Atari for Atari Jaguar and Sega for Megadrive, among others. This game of which I have great memories of how it gave me great hours of entertainment as it was fun to kill different enemies and be able to advance level achieving a high score or discovering some secret place, and why not admit it sometimes a little bit of terror because sometimes you would get a lot of monsters around you and start shooting like a madman against everything you saw around you but that wouldn't take away my great appreciation for this game thanks to that good time of difficult games but that gave excitement to the player.

Those moments when you had to look for keys or cards of different colors to be able to open doors and keep moving forward on the map and sometimes it gave you stress because you couldn't find it or it was a map with a maze and you would stay a few minutes thinking about where to go, discovering spheres that give you advantages against enemies, finding the different weapons, among others. There were several games before this first-person action games like Wolfestein 3D developed by ID Software itself and Ultima Underworld developed by Blue Sky Productions, Doom considered it the best for its style, history and weapons like the BFG 9000.

Doom's story is that we are a Marine who has come from the land and has been sent to the Mars base because he was considered dangerous to an officer and started working as a watchman for a special sector controlled by the UAC (Union Aerospace Corporation) working on Mars as mentioned above and its two moons known as Phobos and Deimos. The UAC developed an interdimensional teleportation project which was being tested on the above mentioned moons and although it worked on objects, plants and animals, humans were sometimes not materialized on the other teleporter or returned in pieces, with bites and those who arrived in full had a state of psychosis or mysteriously exploded coming out of the teleporter. Some time later a message would be sent from the moon Phobos saying that they needed urgent military help and that terrible things were coming out of the teleports, and the electricity in the UAC sector would fail... When the emergency systems were activated the Deimos moon disappeared from space without any trace, so it was decided to rescue the people of Phobos, the orders given to the protagonist are to wait at the door watching and hear screams, gunshots and bones breaking, after a moment would be a terrifying silence...when you enter the base of Phobos he sees that all his companions are dead and when he kills the creature with two shotguns and alerts the rest of the monsters, you are the only survivor of the station and can no longer escape...

The objective of the game is to defeat the enemies to make our way out to the next world or level apart from obstacles such as lava, radioactive waste, roofs that fall and crush the player, and doors that need cards to open, etc.. The levels have labyrinths and secret areas with some reward for being discovered and also the possibility of secret levels, we will start with a simple gun and continue to move forward until we get weapons like the Minigun or the BFG 9000 to make the survival adventure relatively easier. Even if doom doesn't have the graphics we currently have, it will still be a great game and the one that marked the steps of other great players like Counter Strike and Quake.

The best. Good write up!

Thank you Cyber! :)

Mehn the story line of doom is amazing. Though I didn't get to finish the game. I guess I need to look up your blood for game reviews. I am so in love with games.

I was too young for Doom, my parents wouldn't let me play it when I was growing up. But they let play Chex Quest!

You can never beat a classic like the original Doom! Right in the childhood feels. :)

I get flashbacks directly. I remember playing this game secretly at the age of 14 or so on a friend's computer. I didn't think it was really creepy or shocking back then. But the soundtrack was just so great!
