Heroes of Might & Magic 2, which is a masterpiece from the world of turn-based strategy video games that brings back broad memories of that time when I didn't know how to play and made huge disasters in the game at first... but well, it was developed by the New World Computing company and distributed in 1997 by the 3DO PC and Game Boy Color Company. The game is the second installment of the Might and Magic series which made a turning point in this series of video games, and would inspire other turn-based strategy video games.
The game, like all in the series, focuses on the battles between the various empires controlled mainly from several large cities. Securing these cities and using them to feed your armies will require more than patience, and you will have to come out of your comfortable walls with the help of powerful Heroes who lead, preferably, large armies of soldiers to defeat neutral creatures defending the production facilities and artifacts that we must defeat in order to control them.
Unless you're playing a specific scenario, the game usually ends once you've eliminated all the opponents who come, which is done by taking over and maintaining their towns and cities. If an opponent loses both his cities and his Heroes, or does not maintain a city for one week of play, he is ejected from the game.
The creatures and heroes in the game are divided into six factions, two more than in the previous game. This game features the Wizard and Necromancer factions, as well as the Knight, Barbarian, Sorceress and Sorceress factions, although the creatures they rule have been changed, updated and given new powers. For the first time in the series, the game has made an effort towards a real and serious balance, and each faction has its own strengths and weaknesses.
One of the main and most impressive features of the game is the addition of skills. As in most games after Heroes 2, it has a simple system for fostering a diverse set of skills in each Heroes game. Whenever a Hero wins a level he will not only get statistics for the map (such as movement and exploration advantages), and combat, but will be presented with two skills randomly selected from the complete list. Each faction is somewhat biased toward certain abilities, while others are less willing. The Necromancy skill is an example because for Necromancers, it is their most common skill, while only Sorcerers have a remote chance of finding it (later versions would eliminate skills for some heroes because of this). Combat, as in the other games, is easy to understand. Each unit in your army is grouped into stacks, so one character can represent more than thousands or as few as one. These characters maneuver on the ground trying to attack each other.
Heroes of Might & Magic is a wonderful series that I have enjoyed a lot, so I highly recommend it because it has an essence that is not seen since Heroes of Might & Magic 3 due to some changes made in the following sagas, I hope you enjoy this video game.
It may be one of those games that I can play when I am bored and tired of playing: LoL and Fortnite. Thanks for sharing :D
