Napoleon Bonaparte was a military genius and brilliant tactician who shook the world in early 1800s with a series of wars later named after him as "Napoleonic Wars". His failure to invade Russia was a turning point. Only 75 000 soldiers out of 600 000 eventually came back to France.
The music used in this video is a composition by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, named 1812 Overture. Tchaikovsky composed this overture to commemorate the successful Russian defence against Napoleon's invading Grande Armée in 1812. Real cannons can be heard in the music.
Unlike shown in the video, it was actually Napoleon who was well known for his use of artillery in the battles.
