So I talked about various companies racing to make the netflix of gaming and it looks like Google might be the first out the gate. They have already been testing a beta and it looks like they are going to reveal it at their big 9to5Google conference next week. This could be a big announcement that would really shake the gaming industry.
According to the article it will be a device you would have to purchase (like a console) to use it but I can't see it being very big. And you could probably plug in any usb controller into it but they might be making their own. We will have to see.
I think this is a great idea and the next step in gaming. Single games are too expensive and being able to pay for access to a catalog of all the newest releases would be very convenient. Then the question is what about first party games. They will be a lot of more valuable in a world of competing streaming services.

I will be keeping an eye on this one.
I think that cloud gaming is still a long way off simply due to latency. If you try home streaming on steam for example and its definitely noticeable, even with a gigabit connection. I really wish this wasn't the case though. It has always been a fantastic idea. It would change gaming the same way Spotify has changed the way we listen to music and how Netflix has changed the way we watch movies and tv shows.
