This game got kind of lost in the annuls of time and very few people ever played it. Because me and my next door neighbor were super nerds back when videogames were just becoming fun, we bought it because the game box looked fun in Toys R Us.

The game wasn't extremely unique in that it seemed a lot like other platformers such as Castlevania, but it did introduce multiple classes, the opportunity to have 2-player co-op and also introduced some light RPG elements such as leveling up which would dramatically increase your power.

In that regard it was very similar to a number of other platformer games and also had many of those immediate fall to your death sections where you had to time your jumps perfectly. Unlike Ninja Gaiden, getting hit by a bird mid-jump did not result in you uncontrollably flying backwards though and this is one of the biggest gripes about all games of this time back in the day.

For the time period the boss battles were pretty great as well although most of their bodies were stationary and only a few moving bits of them were actually strikable, it was still an impressive display given the hardware at the time.

Being the ninja was the obvious choice for character choice seeing as how he could strike from great distance, the warrior class made the least sense because although his strike was the strongest it didn't matter a great deal since the attack mechanisms of your enemies were pretty basic and therefore anything that required more than one hit to kill was probably going to get some damage in on you.
I had forgotten that this game existed to be honest but after receiving my TG-16 mini I played it from start to finish in about an hour. I think it is worth having a look back at if you were a fan of the style of games that basically dominated the industry back in the late 80's and early 90's.
You can check out the ROM of the game, for free HERE. The emulator is available on that same page.
