I am relatively new to Destiny 2 and although I have had my gripes, which I always do with any game, I have had a mostly positive experience. This is the only "always online" game that I have ever played on PS4 and up until recently things have been going just fine. However, whether it is because of hackers or shortage of servers the Destiny 2 world has been incredibly unreliable lately and this results in me and many others being reluctant to even bother trying to play.

I see the above pop up on my screen entirely too frequently. I do like that they have humorous error codes but I also do not like the way in which they always attempt to blame the disconnect on the player and not their own services. Like most people in the world, there are a ton of things in my apartment that are connected to the online world. So when Bungie decides to tell me that there is a problem with MY network it is really easy for me to prove that possibility incorrect.
This wouldn't be that big of a deal if it didn't take ages to get the game loaded back up once you are disconnected, which it does. It takes like 5 minutes to get back to the screen where you can even choose a destination. There are other caveats as well that are even more annoying.
I am very new to the game and am currently trudging through the parts of the game where you have certain objectives you have to accomplish in order to advance the story. Advancing the story is necessary to access later content so you really don't have any choice but to go ahead and do them. Some of them involve teaming up with others, and for me this has always been strangers because I don't do online gameplay often enough to have a large group of friends to play with.

For me, I am almost always teamed up with people who clearly have a TON more experience than I do at whatever we are doing and it can be quite stressful for me as I struggle to even keep up with them because they have clearly been to whatever map we are on many times before. It isn't that big of a deal because if you fall off a ledge or get too far behind it will warp you to wherever they happen to be anyway.
The problem is that last night I was on a co op mission of sorts and we had already done what has to have been almost all of it. It was nearly finished as we had already defeated two sub bosses with huge health bars. I would imagine we were just a room or two away from being done with the entire thing and this is when the "attempting to reconnect with servers" warning came up on the bottom of my screen. The other two characters in my group stopped moving and I don't know if this was because they were also getting disconnected or because my connection was just not allowing my end to update their position.
Then about 30 seconds later I get the screen informing me that the connection to the servers was lost and the way it was worded encouraged me to look at MY network setup.
Bungie, this is not my fault. Like most of the world I am connected to the internet in some capacity basically 24 hours a day. I don't lose connection. Simply admit that you are having trouble with your servers and if need be, take them down for a while to fucking sort them out.
Don't blame the players in a passive aggressive way. We didn't do anything.
