Pokkén Tournament DX - Battle System peculiarities?

So as I skyrocket up to the upper C ranks, I started to notice something... the points you earn seem to be random. If you win, 25/50/75/100/125 points are awarded. If you lose though, some possibilites include 112, 39, and 92. Anyone have any idea why this happens? Is there something to it? Am I just not seeing something?
