GAMSAT 2020: Everything You Need to Know

A minimum of 10 000 students worldwide will be taking the GAMSAT ® Exam this year. Learn more about how to register by reading our guide to the GAMSAT ® examination in 2020 below.

The GAMSAT ® is run and assessed by ACER. You can register on ACER’s website. ACER advises that anyone who has completed a Bachelor or an undergraduate honours degree, or who will be enrolled in their penultimate (second-last) or final year of study is eligible to sit the exam.

Registration for the March GAMSAT ® examination is open from early Nov 2019 to 1st of Feb 2020, 9 PM AEDT.

Registration for the September GAMSAT ® examination is open from May 2020 to 20th of July 2020, 10 PM AEST.

If you’ve missed the registration closure dates, late registrations are accepted however would require a further payment of $100.

GAMSAT ® Results are typically released two months after the exam. Your GAMSAT ® results are valid for two years. For instance, if you sit the examination in March 2020, the results are going to be valid for your 2020 application for a program commencing in 2021; it'll even be valid for your 2021 application for a program commencing in 2022. However, it'll not be valid for your 2022 application for 2023 entry.

If you’re applying in 2020 for a course commencing in 2021, only these results are usable: September 2018, March 2019, September 2019, March 2020.

Results from a September sitting can't be used for an application in the same year for commencement within the resultant year. For instance, if you sit the September 2020 GAMSAT ® examination, you may solely be able to use the results of this examination for application in 2021 for a program commencing in 2022 and for application in 2022 for a program beginning in 2023. You won’t be able to use this result for application in 2020 for 2021 entry.

There is no limit on the amount of times you are allowed to take the GAMSAT ® examination and lots of students sit the exam two times or more. If you've taken it multiple times, you are allowed to select the result you would like to incorporate in your application. Universities won't have access to the scores that you elect not to submit.

A calculator isn't allowed for any section of the examination and customary english dictionaries are not allowed either. Exception applies to those whose mother tongue isn't english - you're allowed to bring a written dictionary into the examination to be used in Sections I and II solely.
