Studying for the GAMSAT exam can be a stressful endeavour. There are so many tips and tricks on how to ace GAMSAT available that trying to make sense of them all can make it even more confusing for you.

TIP 1: DO A LOT OF PRACTICE
You should practise your critical thinking. However, in order to ace the GAMSAT, you also need to do more than that. You will also need to practice all of its components. Do practice exam, MCQs, and example essays.
TRICK 1: BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE UNFAMILIAR
The GAMSAT is meant to test your capacity to analyse new information in order to solve new problems.
That’s why you should expect to encounter practice questions that are entirely unfamiliar to you, but don’t be intimidated! Having some practice in facing the unfamiliar would be helpful because there’s no way that you’ll be able to familiarise yourself with every single concept that could come up in the exam.
TIP 2: READ OFTEN AND BROADLY
The GAMSAT Section I is meant to assess your interpretation of all sorts of texts and comprehension of subjects in cultural and social contexts. That’s why you need to get used to poring over a variety of media types.
This might involve reading essays, cartoons, poems, articles, news, and even novels.
TRICK 2: DON’T JUST READ
Having said the above, reading a lot is not going to be very beneficial for you unless you also allow time to: think back on what you’ve read; interpret the text in your own concepts; derive thoughts from the texts you read; and improve your critical-thinking skills by comparing the conclusions you’ve drawn from the text to others’ opinions.
TIP 3: UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE STUDYING FOR
The most important thing if all is to know why you’re taking on the GAMSAT exam and at least the basics of what’s in store. You’ve probably heard about the Acer information booklet. You should go through it; it contains a lot of critical information.
TRICK 3: PERSONALISE YOUR GAMSAT STUDY PLAN
There are some great materials out there that help you create a study plan. You can use them as base materials, but make sure to customise your study schedule to be in line with your individual needs.
The GAMSAT exam takes into account a wide variety of skills and knowledge. It is also taken by a individuals every year that hail from all sorts of educational backgrounds. That is why someone else’s GAMSAT study schedule may not be the best one for you.
