Worm Envy + New light + New Box + Veg(table)

in garden •  7 years ago

This big fat worm was hanging out under a big soil sack I had underneath a giant cherry tree in my yard. He had several friends almost as big & a bunch of smaller worms with him that all ended up in my new grow box 🐛

Almost as big as my YUGE thumb 👍

This is the box I built, I’m not a carpenter, but the drain on this one is slick, the basin & the tops work perfect to catch water. I try to have very little run off. I like efficiency.

The box is about 22 inches hi & 44 inches square. I staple four layers of breathable fabric for the bottom & then put about 15 5 gallon buckets of some really nice local organic soil.

☝️ This photo has: tomatoes, basil, peas, lettuces, spinach, squash, peppers, cucumbers, my cannabis genetics I’ve been growing & 6 accidental seeds from my first grow that I’m really excited about.

Got a new cmh light covering this bed & the plants are really digging it. The raggedy looking plants were all monster cropped & then left in cups too long. They all got fresh dirt & will be very happy soon

Great job buddy. You've got the green thumb for sure.
Curious about the organic soil you use. Do you buy it, or do you have a spot you can harvest soil from? I only grow in soil too, but doing pots this year not beds.
Nice worm! We have one named Mikey. We hope to have a big worm compost soon, but for now it's just one worm in a dish with dirt.

☝️ I start with this. They are super close to me, give me a good deal on a big sack, & their soil grows amazing plants.

It’s the best to see them worming around months later when I transplant again 👍

I actually got some tomatoes going also some jalapenos, and Serranos!! So fun to grow!!

& even better to eat!

Yeeeeeee!

Grow life! Great job!
