Worst Part of Gardening in a Northern Climate

The worst part of being in a northern climate and wanting to grow a nice productive vegetable garden over the summer has to be hardening off the plants. Everyday these plants we started through out the winter have to be hauled outside and left there for a while so they can start to adjust to real UV and wind. I am at the 4 hour a day point now so this process is almost complete. Now if these colder overnight temperatures would go away I could plant them in their final places. There was still a light frost in my yard this morning....

In the end it is a small price to pay for having fresh, healthy, organic vegetables all summer!

May 7th, snowed all day, killed my geranium. I live an hour outside of Los Angeles.

Thats terrible. It has been a weird spring for weather everywhere it seem.

Fingers crossed for you. I would love to grow My own but living in the UK and in the North east we have really bad weather

Thank you! I am going to keep posting all summer with the progress!

Brilliant. Will be lovely to have fresh homegrown veg :)

Probably my favorite part of summer!!

My father used to grow fab fruit and veg, I haven't got a garden like he had

It is such a great hobby / pastime. What kind of plants do you grow?

Only flowers at the moment still trying to get my garden sorted

Thats great! I don't know if there could possibly be a single person on earth who could not appreciate a great flower garden.
