Community garden update 6-28steemCreated with Sketch.

Hi dere, and welcome to da garden, eh!
I wanted to post an update on my community garden plot tonight. I took these pictures yesterday evening after I was done hilling the potatoes and pulling a few weeds. The red potatoes aren't growing as fast as my Yukon Gold potatoes at home, but they're doing ok. Some of the smaller plants in my plot almost got buried by the hilling, but they'll grow up out of the dirt. I set up my watering system right after I planted the potatoes and I haven't had to use it yet due to the frequent rains.

I also took a couple of pictures of other people's garden plots at the community garden. Everybody has their own ideas about what to grow, and how to lay out their plot. I find the variations to be interesting.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at the pictures, eh!

Hey Amber,

Sorry if you've already answered this, but what do you mean by a 'community garden plot'? So this is different to your own garden at home?

It looks great!

We have space in our neighbourhood allocated for members of the community to sign up and take care of a plot. It is pretty cool as all of your neighbours that are also into gardening end up in the same dirt, digging and planting... it is more of a community experience than the boxes in my yard. It is likely something like that.

Yes, this is not my home garden. This community garden space is owned by the city, they rent the plots out on a yearly basis for a nominal fee, and they provide the water service. Each plot is 14 feet by 20 feet. There's 11 plots available for use. The person who has a plot one year gets first choice on the plot the following year. After that, it's first come, first served.
I also post about my home garden and my greenhouse, if that would be of interest to you.

Ah that's a really cool idea. I'd love to get involved in something like that.

Thanks for sharing guys.

This makes me wish I had planted one this year. Did the last three yrs. Enjoy your fresh homegrown produce.
