Those are some black and red currants cuttings we took in autumn and then put them in the fridge. They were wrapped in wet cloth and in a plastic bag.
The experiment was can we store cuttings during the winter if we cannot get them in spring. The reason is that if you put cuttings to root in the ground in winter they freeze and die. So the local practice is to put them in spring. However many people trim fruit bushes in autumn so there's the problem.
The experiment showed that not only you can store cuttings this way but also some of the even managed to grow roots in the fridge and develop some buds!
This is very exciting!
