Narcissus ‘Actaea’

in gardening •  4 years ago

Many Narcissus, or daffodils, we see are yellow, but other colors are available.

Narcissus ‘Actaea’ looks like a bright sun on a bright day, with white petals and a yellow cup edged in red, yet it is better suited to grow in watery soil than other Narcissus.

Actaea is the name of another plant, doll’s eyes, so maybe there was an association between the googly fruits of the plant and the googly cup of N. ‘Actaea’. Actaea is also a name from Greek mythology.
