Garden flowers this time: although these are called Honeysuckle, they aren't related to the honeysuckle family but to the Trumpet Vines. I have members of both the African Trumpet vines in my garden.
Port st John's creeper
The trumpet vine family is pretty invasive, the South American plants are invasive in Africa and the African vines are invasive in Australia and they are really tough plants: they all have underground tubers that make them extremely drought-resistant. These have survived and thrived growing in among the rocks without ever being watered. Cape Honeysuckle comes in two varieties: an orange-coloured flower and the paler yellow variety pictured here.
Perfect for hot, dry gardens. The only thing you ever need to do is keep it from taking over completely although Cape honeysuckle is more of a bush than a creeper. The flowers attract and are adapted for pollination by sunbirds.
Lovely flowers! I must get some for my garden!
