Coco Coir Brick

in gardening •  3 years ago

Finally recieved my coco coir with 20% perlite. This is the first time i have used this growing medium. I am very intrigued to see the solid brick transform into a pile of soil. The instructions seem easy enough to follow, simply add warm water and viola.... You magically have a substrate which will allow your plants to grow and hopefully thrive.

As you can see from the pic below 1kg turns into 15 litres of soil, saving money on postage.

You can either buy 100% coco coir or buy a mixture with 20% perlite. I choose the perlite mixture. Perlite loosens and aerates the soil to encourage root development which helps to improves plant health and growth.

The back of the brick is speckled with white. This is the perlite.
