Botanical Genetics an Interesting Observation in Calla Lilies

in gardening •  7 years ago  (edited)

Maybe many of you have experienced in your gardening endeavors oddities that make no sense. I planted these dark Calla Lilies in early summer in a patio container. They are all supposed to be the same but this one crom ended up being a distorted shape with yellow on the inside and a green outer covering. I know hybrid flowers can often revert back to their original genetics, but this one really surprised the heck out of me.

One lone yellow calla in the middle of a pot full of burgundy-black flowers. It made me think of Yin / Yang energies .... ;-)

Thank you for stopping by my post, I hope you enjoyed it.

so beautiful dark calla! About the oddity, maybe it revert back to the original colors o maybe there's something different in the soil? For example, Here when we want have a blue hydrangea we add some piece of iron in the soil ;)
