Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden

in gardenofeden •  7 years ago

It is a lovely day in the Garden of Eden, and we are giving thanks for more than enough of everything in this abundant life of freedom!

We made a delicious feast for our full time volunteers on our indoor wood burning stove rather than on the rocket stoves of our sustainable outdoor kitchen. We stayed nice and toasty, had a fantastic meal, AND heated water for showers for super sustainable efficiency. As usual, there was more than enough food for everyone, and we are happy to share our abundance with you!

We made a delicious turkey burgers feast today with salad, oven fries, spaghetti squash, onions and mushrooms, and squash!

We started with our beautiful garden salad. This has a bed of mixed greens topped with cucumber, mushrooms, peppers, and red onions. We always have a variety of dressing options on hand including homemade vinegars, oils, herbs, seeds, nuts, dried fruits, and cheeses for everyone to customize their individual portions.

For our meat eaters, we offered a platter of delicious turkey burgers! These are made from ground turkey mixed with onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and herbs, and we pan fried them until golden brown on both sides. We offered a variety of toppings, and even our vegetarians had enough to make a dank sandwich for themselves.

We laid out a selection of breads for each person to enjoy exactly what they wanted. We offered a gluten free white bread, whole grain flat wraps, and wheat buns.

We also offered a selection of über dank pickles! We make pickles using the abundance of our garden and our own homemade vinegars.

We fried a plateful of crispy bacon for anyone who wanted to add a few pieces to their burgers or salads, and we used the bacon fat to cook our burgers!

We sautéed a dish of onions and mushrooms. These are yummy and nutritious and made an excellent side dish or burger topping!

We also gently sautéed yellow squash, zucchini, and onion slices. They were tender but firm enough to have an enjoyable texture while retaining the bright colors.

We steamed a spaghetti squash to enjoy on the side as well! This is one of our favorite veggies. It is very simple to cook, and when you scrape out the flesh with a fork, it naturally separates itself into "noodles"!

We made a huge tray of oven fries on the side too! These are delicious, and quite easy to make. We cut scrubbed potatoes and cut them into wedges, then tossed them in olive oil with some rosemary from our garden before baking to a wonderful golden brown.

What a great feast!

As usual, we have plenty of sustainable, delicious, nutritious, free food for everyone!

Thank you for sharing our sustainable feast with us today!

Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!

We do all of our cooking over fire, using wood that was otherwise destined to end up in a landfill! This is our indoor wood burning stove in action - it cooks our food, warms our communal space, and heats water for hot showers all at the same time!

Food is an honored & elemental part of our daily life in community. You can learn more about our unique, intimate, and super sustainable relationship with food here!

Sending you love @myaceh! <3

Very nice food Post
I love it this cooking
I appreciate your life.....

Thank you @rzaman!

I am happy with your sustainable holidays in Eden and by the way I love your stoves I want to get one of those at any time to have it at home and be able to cook outdoors, delicious food

This wood burning stove is made of cast iron and it is indoors in our common space. If you were to keep one outdoors, you would want it to be protected from the elements because it could rust.

excellent menu, for a Sunday afternoon I am addicted to turkey burgers, I have eaten rabbit, the whole menu is very striking and especially to share with volunteers.

Turkey burgers are great substitutes for ground beef for someone who prefers to avoid red meat! We're happy to share it with you @perlanacarada!

It's good to see a lot of people out there still able to do positive things. It's what we need in this world more positive incentived people who want positive change.

Agreed! We're here not only to make a better world, but to motivate others to do the best they can too!

Agreed. As long as we all do as much as we can I believe we can all continue to build this community into the absolute best one in the world! I do what I can. One thing I've been trying to focus on is welcoming new people, and attempting to be the first one to reach out to them to make it positive impact. I let them know that we need good positive content and good positive interactions. I am still new here so I don't know that much. But I do know I love people, and if I'm going to be a part of a community I'm going to spread that love and do what I can to make my community a better place. All of my love to you and all of yours, and may our Creator bless you and yours.

Thank you so much for the up vote. Every little bit helps us. It's so nice to be a part of such a great community!

Those burgers look delicious, I think everything looks so delicious what I like most about all this is that you use your own vinegars so that food is definitely delicious, blessings

Yes it is awesome to have our own homemade vinegars available all day, every day!

Everything looks really delicious and exquisite, I really like the dishes they show us in their publications because each of them has that touch to the field, outdoors and the garden for something called the garden of the eden, and that is a special touch in the meals.
