Make Your Own Mycorrhizae On The Cheap🌱🌿🍀

in gardentips •  6 years ago  (edited)

Today, I had a bunch of organic brown rice that was old and figured I'd try my Mycorrhizae recipe. I Usually make it with oatmeal.. Mycorrhizae is an essential fungus for the roots to live happily and be able to absorb more nutrients and healthy soil biology it will assist the plant in fighting disease and pests too.

RECIPE:

1.Take a bin/tote or flat container with lid non see thru.

  1. Fill with grow soil, garden dirt or potting mix that has some active life force and not sterilized.
  1. Add a thin top layer of any kind of grain. I'm trying cooked brown rice , it is an experiment. If you have oatmeal fastest easiest formula.
  1. Sprinkle layer of oatmeal or grain on top of your soil, then mist down with filtered water
  1. Cover lid... in about three days check on it at this point you should see white hairs, like fuzz growing around the oatmeal. If it dries out, mist again.
  1. This amazing fungus goes a long way! 1/4 tsp. per gallon of water. Use in soil, when planting transplanting, and seed germination. Always double check amounts to use for specific plants etc...
  1. You can add to compost teas, however mix in right before application...it wont survive the brew process. Best as a soil application and not leaves.
  1. EASY AND QUICK WAYS TO HELP AND HEAL EARTH🌞🌱🌎 and make for a happier garden!

This is really cool @kimmysomelove42, I've never really thought about doing this before but now that I've seen how it's done, I will give it a try this summer. Thanks!

We are also running our fortnightly competition for steem rewards, where you can explore a plant medicine! Check it out here - this fortnight's plants are valerian, salvia divinorum and thyme!

Way Coool! Excellent post!
I usually find lots of fungal balls it in my compost pile...I dig the weeds growing then rinse the roots and chuck some clumps containing mycorrhizae where I want it. + worm castings + lama compost
you know your stuff! :)

"Fungal Balls" sounds like a punk band LOL!

Ha! and surprisingly I don't think it has been taken!
But I did find a vid of "Fungus" from Dartmouth Nova Scotia.

I like it! Haaa little surfer!
