Starting my post with my boundless regard and love for all the Steemians around the world. I wish happiness and prosperity who are going through my post. I love to cook and gives me inner satisfaction when I see my family members smile after having the food cooked by me. Today I am here to be a part of the fourth course of season #20 of challenges organized by honourable Madam @nahela. I would like to thank her for announcing this challenge which gives an opportunity to see various Steemian cooking expertise. I couldn't hold myself from being a small part of this great opportunity. I know I am not expertise like my other Steemian are but I tried my best to show my little effort.

The amount of rice (raw) for 1 main rice-based dish is 100 grams per person, while if it is only a side dish, 50 grams (raw) are used per person.
I took this Khichudi as a main dish. For some reason, I couldn't cook only for one person's dish but this main dish I cooked for our whole family member's lunch and dinner twice meal purpose. I took the quantity of 100 grams for per person.

Yes of course there is no doubt that I learned a lot from this class. Though rice is our main food but through this class I got to know various kinds of rice are there like black rice and bomba rice about which I had no experience. Through this class, I also learned how many different types of rice can be cooked with a certain amount of water.

Rice is a highly cultivated crop in our country of Bangladesh. It is the staple food of our Bengalis and we enjoy it a lot. I have seen many varieties of these crops. The rice names that are mentioned in classes I am familiar some of them. Among the white there are many varieties in our country in our native language we call those such as – Nazirshail, Miniket, Paijam, Katari, Atop, Atash, Kalizira, Banglamoti and many more. All these varieties of rice are available in any kind of grocery store, local market, and also in supermarkets. For Basmati rice I always prefer to take the Indian brand Fortune which is available in our supermarket. Though we have many brands of our own country which are produced a good quality. We Bengalis must have rice in our lunch and dinner time. In the countryside of our country, many people eat rice
Nazirshail Premium Rice used for my home
thrice a day. I can’t even think of a day without rice. For my family, I always choose Nazirshail Premium Rice under the brand of Mojjamel which is really a good quality rice. This brand’s rice is much cleaner and free from particles or stones than the other brands in our market. The price of a bag of 20 kg rice BDT price is 2050 taka, and which steam price is 100.411.

Today our topic is about rice. Based on the topic I would like to present a common and delicious dish in our country which we call in our native language “Khichdi”. Today is a rainy day and on this day is a perfect day never miss the opportunity to have this meal. So here I am going to share this main dish recipe in detail.

After collecting all the ingredients for cooking khichuri I am getting prepared to cook the Khichdi.

First, I soak the aromatic rice polao and two types of lentils in water. After cleaning it properly with water I drained the water from it and then I kept it aside.

Now I go to cooking. Now I place a nonstick pan on the stove. When the pan is hot, add four tablespoons of oil to it.

When the oil is heated properly, I add the bay leaves, cinnamon, and cardamom. After stirring it for a while I added the chopped onion in it.

Then add two tablespoons of ginger paste and two tablespoons of garlic paste. Hereafter I add the rest of the other ingredients turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. I stir till all the ingredients are not mixed properly.

After grinding the masalas very well, when it turns light brown in color, add the washed and strained rice and lentils.

For five to ten minutes I keep mixing all the masala with the rice very well so that no part is left out. Then add some water through it. I was conscious in time of adding water to it. Because adding an excess amount of water the dish could not sticky and melt too much on the other hand if the amount of water is less, it will remain hard and uncooked. So the water should be measured in such a way that it should be two centimeters above the rice after immersion.

When the water was boiled properly I gave the green chilis in it. Then I cover the pan with a lid. Keep the oven on low flame for 20 to 25 minutes and wait. After 20 to 25 minutes a very nice aroma spread and I opened the lid. By this time all the water had dried up and the khichuri had become very nice and neat. Then I take it off from the stove.
Chicken gravy my side dish
As a side dish, I make Chicken Gravy. I chose this dish because this will give my body protein, nutrition, and many vitamins as well. So I started preparing this dish by washing and cutting the chicken nicely and adding turmeric powder, chili powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, and salt. Then I keep it aside for a while. Then put a pan on the stove and heat the oil in it and fry the chickens nicely. I add some water to it and wait till the gravy texture has come. I served it as a side dish with my main dish.

Although I didn't get a chance to participate in the pasta class, this rice cooking lesson really made me delighted. It was a really new experience to make a list, buy all the ingredients from the market, prepare all the ingredients, and move on to accept this cooking challenge. Although I have never cooked Khichudi, I have always eaten it cooked by my mother, but today I felt very nervous at the moment of cooking it by myself. My favorite moment was when everyone in the house ate this food and praised it a lot. Participating in this contest has created another beautiful moment in my life.
I would love to invite @ahsansharif, @abdul-rakib and @safdarali to participate in this amazing challenge. By participating here I am sure they will remember this cherishing moment in their entire life.
