How many GDPR consultants does it take to change a lightbulb? (OurNet's June 2018 Update)

in gdpr •  6 years ago

Here's OurNet's recent newsletter mailing, an invitation to stay in touch, to unsubscribe, and an update on where we're at with our thought and manifestation processes:

Q: How many GDPR consultants does it take to change a lightbulb?

A: We can’t possibly tell you until you re-subscribe!

We’re using the current 'GDPR-fest' as an opportunity to get in touch, find out if you want to stay in touch, and to let you know what's been happening for OurNet over the last few months in our new home - Portugal.

To help comply with GDPR consent requirements, we need to confirm that you would like to receive content from us. If you'd like to continue hearing from us, please update your subscription settings, above or below.

This is probably the first newsletter you’ve received from OurNet, and certainly from me - Carl Munson - ‘Town Crier’ and Community Builder. I’m pleased to make your acquaintance and hope you’ll stay in touch with our development and the benefit it will bring to you and your community.

As far as further mailings go, please use the 'Update Settings' buttons above and below.

I sincerely hope you’ll stay with us at this very interesting time for the Internet and especially social media, and help OurNet become part of the transformation so many of us wish to see online and in the world. We will use this newsletter sparing. All the action will be on our own platform, which we intend to manifest before 2019.

Our move to Portugal has been very positive and we believe we’ve met the partners to make real the OurNet vision that has been nearly 15 years in gestation. Both myself and Founder and CEO Michael Brodie (pictured, below left) are now based in Portugal, currently near Lisbon, and feel that this wonderful backdrop brings a very favourable energy to our plans.

With a few months, many meetings and much mulling under our belts, it’s clear the change of scene (from Devon, UK) has brought both new distinctions and useful developments to the OurNet strategy.

One key distinction that has emerged is that we are in the business of transformation, using the Internet as a medium for creating a world that works, for all.

We realise this is a very lofty ambition, and understand that such a grand transformation will require a change of context in communication - from what we call ‘i-centricity’ to a collective consciousness. OurNet will therefore be re-developed specifically as a new context for community transformation that aims to support, enable and empower communities online, causing benefits in the ‘real world’.

Our key methods for this will be:

‘Augmented Locality’ - using technology to make powerful local connections

‘Peer Refinement’ - using technology to improve interpersonal relationships and build trust

This process will require brilliant technological minds as well as communities willing to work in a new and powerful way. We believe we are close to engaging with the required technological capability and have in-principle enrolment from a number of communities who want what we are proposing, who want something different to what's currently on offer in mainstream social media

These are exciting times for us and incredible times for humanity, where we have come so far, yet we cling to systems and ways of being that prize the individual or the collective good..

Please bear with us, BE with us, and bring your brilliant mind and your willing community to the OurNet platform. Together, we can realise amazing things. Maybe even a world that works?!
