I'm experimenting with posting some random bits of my genealogy research here.
It's likely no serious genealogist would add individuals this far back. There's simply no way to prove such a relationship. But I'm not a professional or anything. Essentially, you can find these sort of crazy family trees often when you trace back to royalty somewhere. Typically when you get trees going back this far it's because some member of royalty made some unsubstantiated claim to being descended from some king or legendary figure from the distant past. Or it's just pure speculation. Either way, it isn't going to be reliable information. In theory, this person is a distant ancestor of one of my great grandmother's on my father's side.
I'm still exploring GedSite, a program that takes a gedcom file and converts it into html and The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding which is web based and requires a setup with a web server, php and mysql. Mostly I've been playing around with TNG but I'll get back to GedSite eventually. When it comes to converting this stuff to web pages, every piece of software available seems to have advantages and disadvantages and it is hard to settle on just one. One of the things I like about TNG is how you can easily switch between different chart styles. I've shown a bunch of different ancestor chart styles already and I'll show some others soon. As soon as I pick an individual with a decent number of descendants, I'll start showing some of the descendant charts. The above chart is an ancestor chart from Gramps.
One problem with Gramps is that since I use it mostly for these reports (and relationship calculations), I periodically import an updated gedcom file output from GenoPro (where I maintain everything). Whenever I do this and generate new web pages, they wind up with different names (there's one per individual for instance). This means that past links I post may not always be current. I haven't been deleting anything so assuming a page isn't overwritten, the old one is still there. You can always check for a new version by navigating to Surnames, expanding the Surname you are looking for (Staten in this case) and finding the particular individual. The indexes always point to the most current. TNG on the other hand is easier to manage by updating a gedcom. It's a trade-off between the simplicity of statically generated html files and a dynamic system using php, mysql and a web server.
