How to get Taxi Clearance at FYWE (Eros Airport Namibia) & exit via VFR route 2.

in generalaviation •  4 years ago  (edited)

Getting taxi clearance from ATC at FYWE (eros airport) and Exit via VFR route 2 for a flight to the southern part of Namibia.

In the takeoff clearance ATC gave me a right hand turn for VFR route 2 i read back left turn which was incorrect but ATC corrected me. (So that portion of audio was not included to shorten the video a bit.)

Another video of me throwing a few video clips and pictures together to make this. Some taken from the ground and some inflight. Therefore you will notice some inconsistency.

I’ve had moments like that too where I misread ATC instructions—stuff happens, especially when you’re juggling the checklist, radio calls, and everything else before takeoff. A right-hand turn instead of left? Easy to mix up, but catching it quick makes all the difference.
Before flying out of smaller airports like Eros, I always take a couple of minutes to go over the local VFR routes and usual clearances. It saves me from getting flustered on the spot. On the ground, having a ride sorted after landing is another thing I try to keep smooth. It’s way better to have something reliable booked ahead, like a proper airport transfer—https://otstaxi.com comes in handy for that—so I don’t have to scramble once I’m down.
