A large series of earthquakes have struck to the southwest of Kodiak Island off the southern end of Alaska in the Gulf of Alaska. I have not heard of any reported damage yet.

According to the USGS the earthquake was the result of a strike-slip fault movement of the shallow Lithospheric Pacific plate due to the steady movement and subduction of the heavier, more dense, oceanic crust Pacific Plate under the lighter, less dense, continental crust North American Plate at the Aleutian-Alaskan Trench.

Earthquakes here are quite common. The largest, a 9.2M in March of 1964, killed 139 people and causing nearly
$311 million in damages, according to wikipedia.

Stay safe out there!!

Peace.
