On the planet earth there are quantities of animal and plant species that are one of the vital elements for the balance of the environment and societies.

However, human beings have not valued this variety of living beings that are a source of life and wellbeing for development, man because of his overexploitation activities of natural resources, is causing the sixth largest species extinction in the world and putting at risk their own survival for not conserving and making sustainable use of biodiversity as a fundamental part of nature.

The loss of biodiversity is the disappearance, elimination or extinction of all living beings such as animals, plants and ecosystems by the direct action of man and becoming an environmental problem that threatens the quality of life and the environment.

That is, biodiversity disappears mainly because of the impact of humanity that degrades natural resources, ecosystems and habitats where these species live.

Biodiversity is lost due to causes such as the growth of the population that demands more natural resources, production of fossil fuels, consumption of meat of animal origin, fishing and indiscriminate hunting, industrial, mining, agricultural, agricultural and domestic activities,contamination by agrochemicals, defragmentation of habitats, pesticides, fertilizers, solid waste and hazardous waste, introduction of new species, deforestation, forest fires, overgrazing and climate change that cause the loss of biological diversity on the planet.

Likewise, the main projects developed by human beings that impact on biodiversity are:

• Agricultural, livestock and agricultural activities.
• Fish farming activities.
• Forestry activities.
• Transportation activities.
• Industrial activities.
• Projects for channeling rivers and streams.
• Hydroelectric projects.
• Mining projects.
• Other unsustainable projects with natural resources such as air, water, soil, flora and fauna.

Undoubtedly, the diversity of species on the planet is lost due to economic, social, technological, demographic, institutional and cultural factors. For these reasons, man is leaving the planet without animals and plants that play a fundamental role in the food chain and ecological balance.

On the other hand, the consequences of the loss of biodiversity become imbalances in nature such as natural phenomena, reduction of forests, habitats, ecosystems, natural resources, climate changes, unpurified water, impact on food security, tourism, recreation,weakening of the soils, proliferation of diseases, the extinction of biodiversity is summarized in the loss of environmental services as provision of supply, regulation, cultural and support that provides for all humanity.

Biodiversity needs the conscience and responsibility of all humanity to stop and reverse the environmental problems of the extinction of species and ecosystems.It is urgent to change behavior and human behavior, as well as in the model of development, production and irresponsible consumption that diminishes natural resources. Human beings must now take actions and measures to protect and conserve species diversity for a better quality of life for future generations.
