I received this game as a gift from a friend and he aquired it for free inside of Steam somehow. It was legal, don't worry about it. This isn't so much a review as it is a first-impressions-type thing because I didn't really even play it that long. Basically it had some irritating elements to it that reminded me of NES days where I would throw controllers across the room out of frustration.
At first glance I was thinking "ok, the graphics are pretty bad but whatever, this is a throwback to my youth." It was reminiscent of Super Pitfall and I think I am one of the few people that actually enjoyed that game. However, for a simplistic looking game it is actually quite difficult and the controls are just a mess.
You start the game out with just a whip and you can only use it from side to side. This is extremely irritating when a lot of your enemies attack from above. Also, you are incapable of jumping through the platforms yet this obstruction isn't a big deal for most of your enemies. They are completely unrestricted by walls for the most part, especially if they can fly. The dealbreaker for me was the fact that you can not control your movement mid-jump. Perhaps there is an item you find later in the game that makes this possible but it is extremely frustrating to not be able to change direction mid jump. I know, I know... it is not possible to control your jump mid jump in real life but that is not what I am looking for in a game.
It reminded me of "Ghosts and Goblins" from the NES, a game so frustratingly difficult that I actually cried several times while playing it (get off my case, i was like 6 years old at the time.)
Furthermore, water damages you.. what is this? Grand Theft Auto or something?
I can't recommend this game unless you are significantly more patient than I am.
Judging from the video, I don’t think this is the type of game I’d love to spend my time behind screen for. Seems cool for people that are easily amused and entertained but as for me , it’d be like going back in time for a gaming experience. It’s been a long time my friend.

A quality game all around. Epic 16 bit music that will make nostalgia Nintendo Generation people rock out to the midi-esque goodness. Easy enough to allow you to learn from your mistakes but hard enough to provide some head-scratching entertainment as you attempt to solve it's many puzzles. Not a game that is hard enough to throw your controller against a wall, but not so easy as to bore you to tears.
It's a great little title with an excellent feel, some historical & educational content, and a great concept. It is best summed up as the type of challenging game that makes you want to look up a walkthrough or a FAQ for help, but your inner gamer niggles at you saying "Na, dude. You don't need to do that. Figure it out on your own! You know you can do it."

I definitely don't have that kind of patience, honestly my personal opinion about these ones, they are too frustrating for one to actually enjoy it, i mean, is a game of lessons or fun? I never truly did enjoy them, who knows maybe when i grow older and become more patient i will😕

Pretty simple game @gooddream. Don't you get bored playing these kinda games. Though it may sound cool and easy the first few days but gradually it gets boring and you get frustrated with it. Consider @gooddream you also mentioned throwing controllers in annoyance 😝😝😝. That happened with me too.

From your analysis of the game it seems the game was program to give the enemies more advantage because since they can jump through the platform and move in different direction, will definately makes the game more frustrating for the gamer because he lacks such free movement privileges . I usually don't like playing games that gives me a lot of stress especially when I am at a disadvantage in terms of game control @gooddream
