The mighty Mississippi River. Where you can find solace along the river front, bones of bygones, wildflowers and wildlife, and semiprecious stones. Don’t enter the water. The river will show no mercy. No respect.
The mile long beach I walk is fairly quiet. On occasion, a spirit will acknowledge me. The beach is quiet because it is still fairy young. Not until the flood levee was built in the 1970’s did the beach appear. On the opposite side of the river is a beautiful state park. It is full of random residual energy, intelligent spirits, and lost souls. It is somber, on the most part. So many people have taken their lives in this beautiful yet dangerous river. They show up where people congregate for parties, weddings, and fishing.
I prefer to walk the mile long beach.
