The Division of Lapu-Lapu City in cooperation with the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, Cebu Council conducted a Two-Day Basic Course Training for Troop leaders for elementary and secondary teachers last August 16-17, 2019 at DepEd Training Center, Division of Lapu-Lapu City.

The basic course training was realized through the effort of Mrs Jennifer Mirasol, EPS in Science and Division Coordinator in GSP. The said training aimed to equip the participants with the eight basic skills, knowledge in knot tying, how to handle ceremonies and manage a troop.

This training was participated by 99 teachers both elementary and secondary level of the division. The facilitators and resource speakers of the said training were: Dr. Dioscora C. Lopez, and Virginia Roco.

“Scouting is enjoyable. To understand the deepest meaning of scouting, let our girls experienced the reality of what is happening in the outside world through fun and games”, Dr. Roco emphasized.

“Let us revitalized Girl scouting in school, encouraged more membership and participation; help support the programs, projects and activities of the Council”, said Dr. Lopez in one of her messages. With the cooperation and teamwork of the teachers and facilitators; the two-day basic training course was a success. Kudos!

Personally, during this seminar, I acquired new information and new experience although I've already attended many trainings in girl scouting. All participants were provided with teaching materials required to conduct the seminar, and the trainers were nice and explicit. All acquired information was explicit and interesting. During this seminar, I was informed about the correct procedure in holding ceremonies like Investiture and Escoda Ceremony and I am now refreshed about the correct hand signals and whistle signals on how to properly execute those movements.

I am satisfied with the information received during this seminar. The trainers communicated clearly, explicitly, interestingly and with concrete example. I only knew general information about scouting activities and ceremonies, but today I learned more.
