Mermaidvampire's Steemit Give Back Challenge

in givebackchallenge •  6 years ago  (edited)

Hello, Steemheads!

I have been thinking about this challenge for quite some time and finally I have the strength and time to sit and write about it. I have never authored a challenge. This will be the first one.

Steemit has been a lot of good things to me. I love being here. I met wonderful people in here. I have been helped here, in many ways. I am grateful for the people who helped me, the little upvotes, the resteems and everything. I make sure to show them back that I am grateful and I do the same thing with them, I upvote and resteem their posts but sometimes, I wonder if I can do more than say thank you and little pokes of Steem.

One thing I love about Steemit is I believe the platform gives you more when you give more. I know not everyone will probably believe me on it but I do. When I started, I delegated my very small SP to some communities that are helping minnows. The idea in my head was I wanna help minnows so I will help these communities. Surprisingly, these communities upvote me and helps me back because I have delegations with them. Same with some services that I help, they give me more, like there is always an ROI for me whenever I do help. These are few of the reasons how I make it here, somehow. Despite having just a few friends. I gave so I was given back.

This challenge will be about GIVING BACK. Steemit is so beautiful in my eyes. It is not perfect world in here, trust me, I know, and we can sit down and talk about it over coffee and we will be needing more cups of coffee if we do. Hahaha! But I am a person who would choose to sift good from all the bad and the ugly and everything else. I love it here because of the endless possibilities it can offer you, for as long as you CREATE. Like right now, I am trying to CREATE a challenge. And I want this challenge to change a life or lives.

I do not know how this will go, if this will help in anyway but the intent on my part is to give back and for people to know how to give back. Because many times, there are things that can be done but people do not do. One of them is looking back and giving back. Sometimes I feel that a thank you is not enough when a person helps you. Sometimes I feel like if a person helped you at some point, specially when that point you were desperate for help, you can never repay the person with just a thank you. I think they deserve more than that. I think you need to build a relationship with that person and I think you have to think back to the time how they helped you in that time of need. People need people. If at one point you needed the person, probably in another point he/she will need you, too, anyhow. Sometimes, I wonder what problems could other people have? Can I help them? Despite my lack of many things can I help someone else? I do not know if others function like this, but I do. And thus, this challenge has been going on in my head.

In Steemit, there are people who help many others, like community builders, the whales, the many other people who you see around helping others, uplift others. I wonder who helps them. I see a lot of relationships in Steemit, sometimes symbiotic or an exchange. But sometimes, I don't see that. I wonder who helps those who helps. Surely, they too need help and some of them have problems, but then are there people who look back and help them back?

Why am I doing this? Because why not? Because it can be done, but why aren't we doing it? It will always be good to look back and give back than not doing anything, than just saying thank you, right?

These are the foundations of this challenge. I want you all to look back and think back who helped you here in Steemit and give back to that person. There will be 2 things to be done in this challenge.

1. Dedicate a post to the person or persons who helped you most in Steemit.

2. If you can afford it, give him/her any amount from your wallet as a token of gratuity. No amount and no need to say how much just give back.

If you want to know who helped you the most in Steemit with regards to earnings and upvotes, you can check: http://steemvp.com/

My own dedication post is below, this is my idea of a Give Back Challenge.

Dedication Note

A lot of people has helped me in Steemit. In fact, in autovoters, I have quite a number of people who auto-upvote all my posts. They are the reason I try, I try to be good, I try to be better, I try to be significant, because they trust that I will post something of value. Some time ago I have made a post thanking all of them. Then after that, I have been thinking about how to give back to those people, and that's why I have my contests. My daily contests are fueled by that idea that I want to give back anyhow to the people who make me grow. I am grateful that since its inception 70-100 people join my daily game which helps people with small amount of SBDs. Other than that, I also make sure to upvote them using my autoupvote curation via steemauto. I currently have 82 people there listed and voted by that bot at 25-30% daily. I know this is too low and the upvote is close to nothing but that is all I can do with the little SP that I have earned since I started Steemit.

I have also made relationships with the people that supports me in Steemit. Evidently, one of them is @surpassinggoogle. He has been good to me since day 1. He is like a big brother from another mother. Recently, we have had the chance to talk to each other because of the Discord Talk Show and I was able to hear some stories about him from him personally. About the sleepless nights, the struggle with taking care of his his dad who is ill, his duties in Steemit and all that. Very impressive man to be doing a lot for people despite the struggles that he has. Yet he never fails to help people, and I don't just mean a few but a number of people from all over the world.

I have this funny conversation with my Steemit bestfriend @cadawg, this was our very first Discord convo last January and surprisingly I mentioned @surpassinggoogle in it. This really makes me laugh, how I sound weird in here. It is obvious that I still do not have an idea who @surpassinggoogle was. Honestly, I just knew a little about @surpassinggoogle this May.

jzkm6bt5hr.png

He has helped me a lot this is what http://steemvp.com/ says about my account and his:

8tzcv9uv3e.png

I choose to dedicate this post to him because I think it is time to give back to him in this time. He is so busy right now because his dad is yet again in the hospital and struggling for his life like his mom did before she died some months ago. I know this is a sad time for him and as much as I want to comfort him or be a friend to calm him and just give him an embrace to make him feel that he is not alone, I cannot do it because I am far and so many limitations. But I owe this man a lot here in Steemit. I want him to feel that I am a friend and I am a friend in good days and I am a friend in bad days like this, too.

Give Back Coin/Token

An amount will be given to my MVP @surpassinggoogle from @mermaidvampire as a Give Back Gratuity Token.

Dear @surpassinggoogle,

Thank you so much. Just hang tight and know that you will win over tough times like this. You and your dad are in my prayers. God bless you, always.

Love and Peace,

@mermaidvampire

This is one good idea ladybumpz..Thank You.
In fact I talked about ate devi @olivia08 about sending SBD to SG's wallet as gratitude for what he has done to our posts, I think that was 2 or 3mos ago. But sadly I withdrew all my SBDs because of our car loan emergency. If I didn't win that dobartim contest I couldn't able to pay it. I remembered I only have $6 on my wallet and that earnings came from SG's upvotes and it went $106 when I won dobartim's contest and I was so lucky that time. But winning that big amount is like once in a lifetime for me. That is why I am happy with SG's upvotes my wallet became less empty.. It's really hard to earn here I keep on posting long post before and only SG's boosted the upvotes. So I'm sure he's my mvp here on steemit. But sadly I accepted the fact that it's not all the time he will upvote my post and I will show u my wallet. As proof that without his upvote it's lifeless..hahahha but knowing the fact that there is You a @mermaidvampire who used to help me here from ur daily splitter and also having me as part of ur autobot my wallet is still okay. It's fighting and I also doing a big fight here. I will not give up and surrender this platform even though SG can no longer upvote my post. I will always stay here because like u I also love steemit. I learned a lot here so why should I give up? If my posts are always undervalued it's fine afterall it's always remain here in this blockchain and when I'm getting old I will get back to it and read it and somehow I can be proud of knowing that I am part of this community. I have offered something here, valued or undervalued it's fine because the real essence of steemit is "what u can give not what u can get." If u get something in return oh well, that's a bonus and priceless thing. Yesterday when I read about SG's post I felt so pity about what he's facing now and began to think how can I help him? I already sent $6 SBD to @labgo for his enrollment and I only have remaining $6 SBD. And I felt shy sending him that kind of amount from all his help to me and I also don't have cash here. He used to be my savior here even those time that I was hacked he gave me $14+ upvote. That was the first time I got big upvote and it really feels good. His biggest upvote for me my post reached $28 and that was amazing and overwhelming for me that is why I doubted to give him my small amount of SBD. I only have $6 on my wallet. But from this post of yours it's a contribution right? And it will become bigger with others contribution as well.. I will withdraw my $6SBD from my savings this time to send it to him but It will take 3days. I wish there is someone who can offer me to borrow his/her 6SBD and return it after 3days.
Thank you so much ladybumpz for this initiative. You are terrific woman here you really know what to do.. You are one of my mvp here next to sir SG. I love u both from the bottom of my heart. I hope u believe me from saying that..Yes I do and I really do. Although i haven't meet u in person but the feeling is here and that matters.
Screenshot_20180622-132922.png

This is the proof that I can pay 6SBD to someone who can offer me to borrow while still this SBD is in the process. Thank you 😘

cinderz, there are bigger things than money. If you gave me money with all this sweetness here. I will return it. For content, whenever the chips appear down, the is ulogs.org and it is for that reason among other reasons like adjusting the world and personal growth as well denting your legaciea into the blockchain and it has never been about the now, sometimes presence is a you need. it wasnt about good or bad people when the rain fell ages ago, it was about simply enter Noah's ark at the time. the things you do now can mean something later today. teardrops token is tied to all I do too. we dont know what it will be tomorrow but you have been part of the journey. plus what is rewarded on steemit, isnt content, it is value and speaking of content alone even as a source of value, there are many genre of content. curation for instance isnt content but it constitute value too and gets rewarded. even discord events can be rewarded on the scene steemit etc look in that direction and it will help you fly youe journey. try stuff even with your posts. join the discord talks and my still few youtube videos.

You did a lot to me here sir. You helped me grow in steemit and you inspired me with ur words of wisdom an inspiring thoughts. My token is nothing compared to all the efforts you have done to me here. I owe u BIG TIME. And yes I will be present in discord and patronize ur utube because I am one of ur avid fan. 😍😄

With your followers and the communities you joined, you have more chance on this unlike the post that I did which earned dismal sbd but that is beyond my control. I even waited until payout before making another post. However, everyone seems to have flown away from the low price of steem/sbd and probably because of other factors. Whatever that post earned, I just topped it up a little more. The moment I sent that, terry gave it back through upvotes in posts and/or comments. What a guy! I plan to do this giving back again and again when my resources allow.

One thing that I want to do is the idea by @angelacs wherein we should sponsor terry and others through @steembasicincome which is great because it will give us lifetime earnings. I saw someone earning posts through SBI alone. Angela gave an example of someone earning $5 per post just from SBI. How awesome is that? So, if you someone has steem to spare, why not sponsor someone that you want to support? What's great about SBI is that you and the person you sponsor both will be earning upvotes so it is a win-win situation.

I've been meaning to make a post about this but this is a start lol!

Again, those with available STEEM, sponsor someone through @steembasicincome. 1 STEEM is all it takes. Both you and the one you sponsor will earn upvotes for life.

This comment was made from https://ulogs.org

I have lost track of how much shares I have with SBI, I think I have sponsored 15 people and more to come. I am also thinking of letting @surpassinggoogle join my daily contest just for fun. Hahahaha! I want people to realize one thing so simple. Because it is weird why people keep thinking they need support, support, support... they do not realize, don't we all? And instead of looking at a one way street, why not look at it 2 ways or even look at it not as a street but a galaxy where you can go all the ways you like and networks and help everyone or anyone, just be innovative of how you can make it happen. I want people to be awaken that things work more when you do not limit to your own interests and your very own tiny space of your wallet or pocket. Life is beautiful and it will even be more beautiful if you know how to connect to everything.

You really are someone with a big heart. I hope I will be in your position one of these days or probably surpass you in sponsoring others through SBI. I have been made aware of this and in fact the SBIs I have now were from winnings. I did not give much thought then haha! Now that is what I want to aim. I think I have sponsored two people so far.

Have you made posts about communities you support? I want to delegate SPs, too, in the future. It's a slow process building up SP but I will get there. There are lots of people here who have been helping me and keep helping me and I want to pay it forward.

For delegations, I have a few, only those communities that allow 10SP delegations. I think you are a writer or you can write well, @muxxybot is a good bot to support, it curates writers. I have 10sp with them and they upvote all my posts because of that. @minnowbootcamp is another and it's sub program called @mbc-meps. @msp-shanehug is also one, msp stands for minnow support project. @msp-shanehug is the only MSP project that allows 10SP delegations. So, this is how my delegation manager looks like...

If my boyfriends hr1 and busy upvotes me then it helps a lot, too. Hahaha!

You can also enroll with @moonbot and @cryptowithincin. With @cryptowithincin, let them know I sent you if ever. They know me.

Thanks for this @mermaidvampire! It is a big help. I didn't know we can delegate as low as 10 sp. I guess I have not been looking enough. All I have been seeing is 50 sp is the lowest.

Where should I do the delegation? When I delegated before, they provided a clickable link which took me directly to the delegation but I forgot lol!

The easiest way to delegate is here: https://steembottracker.com/delegation.html
No one taught me these things, I am just a lurker, I lurk and read and lurk and lurk and lurk some more. Hahaha! Join their Discord servers when you delegate to them and let them know you delegated so they can help you back. Any help helps. 10SP is 10SP, that is so little but that is something still.

Thank you @mermaidvampire for the mention and @leeart if you have any questions please come to our discord .

hahaha I saw your post late and I so valued the art cos the art is what is paramount moreso than the financial aspect. so it was okay. it want past payout per say but I didnt react because I didnt visit the comments and with community involved I did have to care. I wasnt fit to explain matters all those days, so I let it pass. as for help, no one hasnt already help me. your success is my cpmpensation is a known thing I usually say. just your recent ulog alone and dig you put in it which mines you inside out and is evident growth is giant help to me. it goes unknown but I know it and this help is sufficient. stay awesome

OMG koi! I so love this great challenge that you're doing. You know our compassionate hearts would do wonders if we do this hand in hand with full blast efforts. I would be more than willing to help and come up with my own idea to help you out with this and help our common MVP!

Edited part just to really prove to myself who he is! Thank you so much for being a major part of my steemit life @surpassinggoogle

A great concept..Dedicate a post to the person or persons who helped you most in Steemit.. thank you @mermaidvampire. God bless you!

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Thanks for this great challenge @mermaidvampire. That's nice of you. You do inspire me. @surpassinggoogle supported my journey on steemit. I pray he triumphs over this trial and wish his dad quick recovery.

A very nice concept in showing gratefulness. I like it!

Yes @surpassinggoogle is a big heart to us specially to the redfish community steemit leyte. The one who ever lost supprtive witness to us and the team @steemgigs. And his new project #ulog say something about your day.

I will give a big thank you to @surpassingoggle and to sir @flysky for helping me in many ways..God bless you both for helping me and motivation.😊

Well it's seems you both go way back really, @Surpassingoogle has also massively supported me as well, I guess I'm praying for him and his father too

Sir Terry because of you I am here.
Be strong @surpassinggoogle
We love you so much and we are here backing you,we are here to give back.
Thank you @mermaidvampire to this post.Yesterday I was thinking how could I give back to Sir Terry?
Please m fellow steemians let us help together to share love for him and his father.
In the name of God,I encourage you to help Sir Terry now. This is a bif trial and it is a time to prove how steemit works to our lives and changed so let us do a things that help and change other too.
Let us help @surpassinggoogle

I agree with you nay deevi. Yes let's do this. :)

Giving back is one great thing we can do to someone who had helped us in so many ways. Life maybe hard on #steemit this time but still we can do something good for the person who had been supporting us or helping us. Although honestly this is not my cup of tea, I mean I see some people who doesn't need support because he or she can afford to do it for him/herself. Imagine someone submitted a post asking for support because he wants a good birthday party for his son or daughter and yet you can see he's earning well or have enough resources outside #steemit? Or someone beg for donations because he wants to buy a new cellphone or some accessories for his car haha Stuffs like that.

Anyhow, I'm not against helping other people in fact I used to initiate things in order to help those who really need help. Sad to say most of the times those who have much get much help but those who really need help and have nothing in his pocket get less.

Anyway thanks for this initiative for our superhero, I wish he could get over these trials that he is facing right now. I also wish that a lot of whales will help him not only minnows like us. And most of all I wish he could get someone who could help him manage his finances so he won't be stressed when problem that involves money arises.

Hi bro, money is the smaller things. give back isnt always money. there are millions lurking everywhere in very simple directional words. and bro about my finances, you may not know about my finances or management of it. I didnt ask financial help. I didnt know of the last post done to buy a fone for me even till I saw it and the many comments there talking about my finances (which is unknown). Well, because I will not do a transparent post for all the behind-the-scenes, which is what I constitute of more. receiving in itself is an art and is not only the giving and receiving in itself is hard. the help at stake here is prayer and its other forms, money being secondary. my last post aired pain, trauma and aired many other things and the existence of money wont have saved anything in what happened on the day I wrote that post, cos nothing much of what transpired was mentioned in a public post. according to me, I see all whales, I never see minnow or whales for you are whale to me and if I turn to someone even just to air my pains, the size of wallets dont even come to play. plus, whatever stake I will have here is for everyone long term, hence projects on and on till they are fully in place to really help. when the teardrops token is ready abd all the projects that constitute a curriculum to where we reward every tear, then I can really buy a shirt then. my last post spoke more of pain, trauma etc things in which presence, even money can lose value. till my projects are complete which are aimed to be as free as possible for everyone, my wallets say nothing about my expenses. plus expenses are privacy. there is a privacy paradigm on the bare blockchain. many things are unknown. sleepless nights happen in silent and ever-in-silence in some cases, steemit is simply the scene. in the presence of many brothers, even the term fundraise goes obsolete. that is what has happened in the case and what may have happened in case who went proactivd about giving to me as they continously grow into brotherhood and receiving is an art. when the concept becomes brother, whale or minnow becomes obsolete too. when people are proactive it is great to see because yes, there are people who do pain in silence, because there are different types of people. Overall, a curriculum has been underway instill these concepts and it is a joy to see it playout cos when there are brothers everywhere, then even money loses value because your brother's money is your money. We simply create many brothers. bro, you have helped me many many many times and among these many times, there are many times you have helped me without your knowing. with regards to help, there is no competition. many times it isnt about the financial size of the help. it may more about the value given this help by the receiver, size regardless as receiving is an art in itself. everyone had played a role knowingly or unknowingly. I am not the best helper as ii havent helped. I am simply brother and I have done things I woulddidn't normaly do as brother accolades or no accolades and sinceI minnow days or now days cos I have only ever had brother days. in my minnow days, I had the giving factory. I wrote this comment for community sake as it became necessary following reactions to a previous post that I never got aware of till laterI.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Not to worry sir. From the bottom of our hearts it's giving back and being grateful to the person who BELIEVED and REWARD us with what we somehow deserved. It's not really more about helping but showing our constant support because we are all aware that this will be for us in the long run and yes I definitely agree a long term one.

Thank you so much again :)

I dont see much of the now for me, like you said, I see more of tomorrow where help if it is so called is more solid. but thid will play out and be made more evident. like I have always said, I have never been out to reward people and I spoke of what my votes represent and it has never been money or financial rewards because according to me excerpts of the brain is priceless. I no one to reward you. utmostly, votes have more recently constituted a spread, comments or posts and it is mostly there to constitute inspiration, ever-incessant reminder of light in the tunnel, ever-incessant remind that "your boy terry" is a constant, ever incessant reminder that dreams equaller reality etc I look to a time where I can help more solidly when the teardrops token enters full blown life down the road and I do look for endeavors that mine the human into true celebrities ulogs, dream-builders steemgigs, the awesomebest version of human untalented, real brothers to where humanity is the brother next to you surpassinggoogle, then to celebrate tbis with a breakthrough token, an emblem of human with the teardrops token. it has always been a long road and yes, I will not rest. becos my immidiate family itself has been about generations yet unborn. my dad himself did that and though he suffers now, he did do something and alot because I am here and I am not flinching in "your boy terry"

Thanks sir Terry for being here in Steemit as one of our Steemit Witnesses! You are so great!More power and may Jehovah God will always bless you all the time!

Hello Terry yes you are right giving back is not always money but honestly its always a wish on our part to be able to share some amount not only to you but to anyone who really need help its just that this time the value of SBD is very low so it would be hard for us to collect a good amount, but other than money, we are always here to support you.

We are trying to analyze things so we could better help or support you but yes you know more than we do when it comes to your finances and everything. Do what is right and may you'll be successful in all your projects.

Lastly I would like to cite this wonderful words of yours which made my heart grow enormously big LOL

We simply create many brothers. bro, you have helped me many many many times and among these many times, there are many times you have helped me without your knowing.

Thank you very much that even in our little ways you were able to acknowledge our ardent desire to really be of help again not just to you but to other #steemians as well.

Please be well for us, take a good rest, seek required and necesary medical attention not only for your father but also for yourself, we are praying for you both.

okay bro. no worries about money. I didn't ask. receiving in itself is hard for me, so I call it an art. when people are proactive about it and persistently proactive and render help I may end up giving in to receiving not only because it is an art but because I care about the giver, because for true givers, it can also hurt them when you dont receive from them.

You're right @surpassinggoogle Not receiving from others can hurt people that are trying to help you and it can also hurt you in the long run. I am not very good at receiving either but I think I am a lot better than before. Self-sacrifice doesn't serve a good purpose when it's unnecessary. I learned that the hard way!

P.S. I didn't read the whole thread. I am only commenting based on the fact that receiving has been difficult for me too.

I am also one of the people who was helped by surpassinggoogle and still helping me continously on my journey here. Because of him, life here in steemit became so much exciting and fun..

I think for me no body else for sure is sir terry or @surapassinggoogle who gave more support to all filipino in this platform

This is funny, after reading your post; it really seems as if Steemit keeps giving - you won this Fridays Free Upvote on MAP!

I'll write a post in a few minutes and link to it here. (This was my "check" that there is a valid article to vote on; last week I just assumed, only to find no live posts.)

Wow, thank you! And you are one of those services that keeps giving, too! I knew I needed to go through your introduction and all when I saw your post. I told myself, I need to be part of it. Hahahaha! Thank you!

yay mermaid!! =p

@surpassinggoogle has a big heart and now he is undergoing trials in life. Its now the time to pay him back in our own little way. This concept is very timely and nice. Let's do this challenge.

That's so nice of you doing this challenge

Drama man kaayo oi. haha

The reality is "is money can change good to bad or bad to good?" Is money can make you happier? A poor fisherman off to the sea to catch fish for a living, he caught one fish and puts smile on his old face, he felt joy and happiness and thankful to God for his small catch. He then again throw his net, hoping to catch more, on his second try, he didn't catch any at all. But then, again he thanks God for his first catch that he is very lucky to have one fish to share with his family. We are like this fisherman, the big sea is the Steemit flatform, the fish we catch is the upvote or likes, the net is our post. Lets be thankful to God for what we have, even if its a small fish, lets be happy not on how big our catch is. My gratitude is to our God for he sent his angel to guide us. @surpassinggoogle is like an angel. Agree?

be good, do good to others; for what you do for them is what you do for God - @dwightjaden

I thank you @mermaidvampire 😁

Thank you so much! I will always treasure all your help and saying thank you is not enough...

Thank you for sharing your blessings with me!!! All the best!!!
