Okay, let's get caught up.

It was a sore wake up, but good sore.

Reunion

AMX was good... despite being sore, I worked the bands, hit some pushups, abs, face and eyes. Yes, eyes. I have to start training the muscles that move and focus my eyes. I've been putting this off for years. My eyes actually feel weak sometimes and my long range vision has long been blurry. So let's see what, if anything happens. In fact, I think I have to will my eyes to improve as well as work on them.

As far as the core, I realize I must work on more difficult moves. It's easy at this point to do a hundred crunches, both directions. I need more lower abs strength and likewise for the obliques. Fifty side crunches each.

I must also work on the ankles, calves and heels as well. They are too tight and lefty heel stings sometimes on the outer edge.

Now that it's recorded, let's internalize it and make it a part of the development. My biggest muscle groups have been the focus for so long, some of the smaller ones have suffered. Not completely. The smaller muscles get worked with the large ones, but I think now is the time to pay closer, more specific attention to them. Like the wrists. Granted they're not muscles... I mean the muscles around/connected to the joints. They provide better joint movement and more protection. Personally, I want to keep myself injury free.

Okay. That's out of the way.

Fast broken with 3 eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and blueberries. I wandered over to the train station as was getting a little frustrated trying to figure out the system. I'm meeting Marta tonight in Estoril. Looking at the transit map gave me no clue that Estoril was outside of Lisbon. I couldn't figure out why the metro didn't go there. A bit of research later... one of the many benefits of the net, even though I complain about it... and I'm feeling more confident about getting there.

Estoril is a beach community along the coast and is served by a different line. It's the difference between metro buses and interstate buses, (or trains). So my journey will begin on the metro then regional. It's over an hour, not terribly expensive and I expect it to be a good experience. I even looked at a few hostels out there, just in case I like it enough to stay. Maybe I can get from Estoril to Porto without much trouble.

I'm feeling the deadlift results as I walk the neighborhood. It's not as bad as it was back in the day... but I was getting fatigued just walking around. I love this feeling.

Opted for lunch today. I spotted a cafe with seats, had a great cup of tea, and a sandwich I just couldn't resist; avocado, cheese, honey and walnuts. Mmmm! Yummy. And not that I'm vegan or anything close... I super-enjoyed it.

And with this part of the day out of the way. I need to get my metro card. Find the line, maybe lift a little, wait to see if I hear from J, (that's another story) and prep to explore Estoril. It's five hours away, but I expect it will go quickly.

I don't think I'll lift weights today. Body says, "rest, relax, recreation."

This journey started out frustrating because I didn't understand how the schedule works. The first time out is the toughest, but the guy at the info desk was a big help. There are several trains that run on track four. I was getting nervous, but my train eventually arrived.

The reunion went well and to top it off we got to watch the eclipse. It seems more exciting than it really is. I think, as an event helps to cement the memory of any other events that happen along side of it.

One night, way back, the fellas and I partied in Manhattan, it was a warm October night. But what helps me remember it, besides the pictures, is that daylight savings time ended and we had an extra hour to party.

Now that I know how to get down there, I might make a trip or two before I leave. Maybe. I have some chores to do before I leave. I don't think my clothes will last until Monday. I may have to hit laundry Sunday.

And pump iron again tomorrow. More chest and back. I'm back to not doing burpees. I also have to figure out my next move. There are no wrong answers.

It's after midnight and I'm on the last train leaving from Alcantara. A short three stops. No sleeping or I end up in Azambuja. This will probably get posted tomorrow.

Ciao.
