Not all abuse is physical. It can be as simple as telling you what you can and cannot wear, what you can and cannot say and it often starts like this and often escalates into emotional, mental, psychological and numerous other stages before it gets physical if it even does at all.
Know the signs and please get help if you believe you are being abused!
