Examining the scriptures: "The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God.", Romans 8:7

The apostle Paul warns us that we must avoid what belongs to the worldly nature: "The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor it can do so.", Romans 8:7

The mind governed by the flesh is subject to all that is object of the concupiscence. Concupiscence is the disorderly desire for goods, usually these goods are focused on the pleasures of the body such as gluttony and lust. Concupiscence is in essence self-love; concupiscence tempts us, drags us into sin because the concupiscence searches the apparent goods: "When tempted, no one should say, ´God is tempting me´. For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempted anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire (concupiscence) and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death". James 1:13-15
The mind governed by the flesh, by the self love; is hostile to God because spiritual desires are meaningless, the flesh is subject to the error. That is why Pablo clarifies: "For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh", Romans 8:3; that is, the law of Moses is a set of imperatives that point us to sin. The ancient law, the old covenant does not redeem us.
Jesus is the new covenant that justifies us, justification is a special help to live according to the spirit: "You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.", Romans 8:9-10.
