Follow the word of God: Get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you

The apostle James spoke to us in his letter about the importance of receiving the word of God in the heart, because if it is not so, the gift of faith becomes sterile. The word walks along with faith, how can we say that we believe in Jesus if we do not listen to his word? At this point the thought of the apostle James is very similar to that of the apostle Paul, faith cannot go alone. For this reason, Jesus said: "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it" Luke 11:28.
And when the apostle James spoke to us about receiving the word, he spoke to us about listening to it with the intention of putting it into practice: "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says" James 1:22.
As Jesus wisely explained in the parable of the sower (Matthew 13:1-23), the word lived in the heart, that is, heard and retained in memory, and practiced with constancy and firmness (fear of God), is the path to spiritual illumination, that is, the gnosis: "No one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit" John 3:5.
And the apostle James about the subject, that is, about the importance of the word of God in the life of all the christians, also added: "Get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you" James 1:21. This means that the word of God has purifying effects on the soul of man, the word cannot coexist with destructive and chaotic emotions or thoughts, the word lived correctly, orders the mind of man to God and his wisdom, to the highest and to the most perfect. And it is this order, or this ordering that the word produces, what brings with it the inner peace, the happiness of heart, the joy, and the longevity or immortality. The word of God blesses us in every way: "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" Matthew 5:48.
