Valuable Lessons In Taming Your Tongue @senseicat

With the advent of internet and social media, information is unleashed wildly with very little regard toward the necessity or the validity of the information.

I actually feel flooded by the sheer amount of information from multiple media sources on various devices. In my heart, I feel that people tend to focus on the dramatic headline news and it is affecting our ability to sift through meaningful information.

Personally, and as a society, I believe that we need to practice taming our tongue and it begins with one person--ME! How many times has someone said a hurtful comment, and immediately you go into a defensive mode like you are suddenly fighting for your life and need to come up with the ultimate comeback so that you can be right? Instead, it is best to say, "I hear you and your tone hurt me." This type of response is more effective and lessens the conflict.

It is important to remind ourselves that God blessed us with 2 ears and one mouth and listening is actually more important than talking. Less is definitely more and the day to begin this new self-discipline and practice is now.

When I used to volunteer at my son's school, one of the posters that really struck me in his classroom included this message. Immediately, I thought kudos to the teacher and realized that this is one of the most important lessons in life.

As adults, we think we are sending messages such as these, but in reality, I think that everyone could ask the universe to improve our self-discipline. It would be interesting to tape record ourselves for one day and listen to it at an alternate time to see what truly came from our lips.

Please remember we are here to love one another and be a force for good and it all begins within ourselves. The more love we have for ourselves, the more we can spread it across our world.

Great point! Trolls and scammers ruin the experience.

The tongue is one weapon in the human body, that capable of setting a man's world on fire and it would be difficult to quench when not put under control.

One of my favourite Bible characters, is King Solomon. A man filled with so much wisdom that he had to speak about the wonders of the tongue.

according to Proverbs15:2,

The tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing, but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness.

Wisdom only comes to those who are willing to seek her council only by willing to tame their lips @senseicat

The tongue, though boneless, wreaks irreparable damage.

Sometimes what the language says manifests what we have in our hearts! excellent post, thanks for sharing!
