CEO and CIO of US Global Investors Frank Holmes explains that the average gold price was slightly higher in 2021 than in 2020 — and stresses that the media focus too much on the daily price dynamics.
The expert said that in the 21st century, gold outperformed the stock market 86% of the time — a phenomenal result. The returns from gold were 225% higher than from S&P 500, so not having any gold is a mistake. It's one of the best assets, but its price movements are limited. Basically the market is fully focused on gold's daily moves.
Answering a question about the fair price for gold, Holmes said that it’s definitely undervalued right now, considering the negative real interest rates and the massive printing of money by the G7 countries. He thinks that the price should be almost $1,000 more than it is now.
Meanwhile, Lawrie Williams published an updated forecast for precious metals on SharpsPixley.com. He believes that this year should be good for all the key precious metals — except for palladium, which has been growing too fast in the past few years.
Williams expects $2,000 an ounce by the end of the year, or +10% year-on-year. Silver, according to him, should also add 10% to reach $25.5 an ounce.
As for platinum, the expert predicts a 16% increase to $1,100 by the end of December. By contrast, palladium's price should drop by 27% to $1,350.
Another expert, Lobo Tiggre from The Independent Speculator, also shared his 2022 predictions, this time in an interview for Kitco News. The interview covered the Fed's monetary policy, gold, silver, and uranium.
For precious metals, Tiggre expects the demand to rise once the mainstream market players stop taking the Fed's promises seriously. Then the prices of gold and silver should make new all-time-highs.
Lobo Tiggre also believes that inflation rates will remain high in the long term, which is another factor in favor of holding gold and silver.
