For awhile I have kept my eye on Golos which is a STEEM Clone that came out in 2016. It was the first of the clones. It has had little to no liquidity for awhile and that is likely why Bittrex got rid of it.
Now it has slipped to 1279 on CoinMarketCap. It isn't a good situation and I'm sure as hell glad I didn't try to become a whale on there. I would keep my eye on it every so often to see how it was doing and would always think in my head that I could take advantage of the low prices. Of course this train of thought always got me worried and I wouldn't do it.
What can we learn from Golos?
Well there were a number of missteps that STEEM and Golos made. For a long time Golos still had the original reward curve that STEEM had so there were God King whales swimming around on there vote colluding which didn't help at all.
Also when they started out they gave everyone who had STEEM Power Golos Power but it was proportional to what you had over on STEEM so it continued the terrible initial distribution that STEEM had.

They also made the fatal mistake of not having additional revenue sources. It was all just based on speculation.
Crypto has been hit hard and it hasn't been easy on these Delegated Proof of Stake blogging platforms. They are all bleeding out bad.
I have been doing a lot of serious calculations over here trying to see how much I could control a reward pool if I made a big move and bought a lot of power on various chains. The issue is even if something goes to a penny it doesn't mean it can't go to half a penny and if pricing doesn't recover you have drained your money and your time.
Trust me I keep thinking about if STEEM gets to a certain price I should just say screw it and go in pretty hard against my best judgement and figure if I can move fast enough I will recoup my investment and have a money printing machine if prices stabilize. It is pretty risky to do that though. It is very tempting though.
Soon or later will recover. The problem is still there are so much selling pressure coming from steemit and others big wales. It might be lower still.

Yeah at some point it will rebound. The issue for me is that everytime I do the math for how much power I would get for how much money I'm looking to spend the numbers don't give me enough influence so I just pass on it. If it gets below $0.10 I'm interested though. It probably won't stay there for long but I think we are going to get stretched out for another couple of months because once this new hardfork hits I think regular people with a little bit of power are going to see their influence go down even more.
