Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and founder and CEO of SpaceX is giving big to help the online learning organization Khan Academy. Through his Musk Foundation, he’s donated $5-million to the education group, which is a nonprofit with a goal to “provide free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere.”
Students around the world can access Khan Academy videos at no charge and use the videos, which are translated into over 36 languages, to learn at their own pace. Along with the videos, there are practice exercises and personalized learning dashboards on Khan Academy, which are also used by teachers and parents, who have found them especially helpful during distance learning.
"Elon, I hope you really feel good about this," Khan Academy founder Salman Khan says in a YouTube video thanking Musk for the donation. "This is going to allow us to accelerate all sorts of content. Our aspirations are all subjects -- from kids to early stages of college. This will accelerate our science content, allow us to do more early learning, allow us to make the software and the practice that much more engaging."
