Google is integrating 3 new security features to Chrome. These new features are focused on fighting sneaky URLS that redirect users.
I kept seeing some documents published about iFrame redirects, so I spent some time looking into this area and this is the information that has been communicated through out all the publications. First off you will see these new features in Chrome 64, This is scheduled to come out Jan 2018.
These code loaded redirects have been found in iframes embed pages. Web developers don't really use this technique any more, these iframes come from loaded ads.
The organizations who use this type of redirects have spent a significant amount of resources to reinforce their technologies. Their investments are now doomed to work in the coming months with Chromes new features this should put a stop to this in the new year.
I think Googles Chrome features will not stop the redirects 100% but it will definitely change the way those organizations use their technology. They will probably be spending their time how to over come the new Chrome features.
There are other features Chrome is integrating such as addressing the tab-unders. There is a technology that is implemented that also redirects tabs when new ones are launched. You know what I am talking about. Lets say you go to a website and sometimes tabs are automatically opened and redirected or when you try to open a new tab it already redirects you to a site. The technology malvertisers use when they initiate this code is caused from them bypassing Chrome's built in pop up blocker. You won't see this feature yet till later in 2018 around March in the Google Chrome 65 release.
Abusive Experiences Report
This is the third feature you will see soon. This one will will give you a warning about these UI elements, I think you will have to register your site with Google in order to use this feature. These UI elements also mislead users and redirect them with out their consent as well.
Web site developers pay attention to these new tools or else you will find your self being mislead and redirected.
