My deep distrust of government on all levels

in government •  3 years ago

I have a very simple explanation of how much government I want in my life. I want almost none. I don't need the government to help me and I don't want to help it either. I suppose there has been some level of good fortune in my upbringing but we certainly weren't wealthy, we had to watch what we spent money on and I very rarely got handouts.

I also do not trust the government at all or a vast majority of the people involved in it. I can say this from the President all the way down to our local city council members. They are not in this for the betterment of the people, they are in it to gain and later expand their own power. Even the people that I know in college who work and worked for various campaigns or PAC's did so to expand their network of people that they know in high places, not because they actually believed in the candidates. I once worked on a campaign because I was being paid to do so by the state representative. I didn't give a damn about this guy nor did I really even know very much about him. I was in it for the money and I believe that almost all politicians the world over are the same way.

Someone forwarded this to me not long ago and it sums up almost perfectly about how I feel about government and for the most part, their media lackeys.

I have won some contracts with my own company working on government-funded projects and the level of ignorance and just general non-concern with efficiency and costs is astounding. The amount of waste I witnessed working with various government agencies was just a tiny drop in the bucket but I had seen enough to understand exactly why it is that they always need more money. There is no accountability with them like there would be with my own company. If I operated like the government does for just half a year my company would go bankrupt.

I've gotten to the point as far as health and life is concerned that if the government in the USA or elsewhere tries to tell me that I need to do something for my own good I immediately am suspicious that it is a trick. I do not need nor do I want the government's help in my own security, financial welfare, or health and each year that they want just a little bit more of my earnings in taxes for the "public good" it makes me a little more and more upset.

I just want to be left alone and there are millions of people just like me.

that's the main reason why I'm a climate skeptic. When 100% of the "solutions" to your "problem" imply more problem, not being skeptic makes you complicit

and the "solution" always involves us giving them more of our money. No thanks
