GQ magazine asserts, as it slobbers over the Latina barista turned political firebrand, that “Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has become the political voice of a generation – and a cultural star whose power transcends politics.”

If being a "cultural star" means posing as a fashion model, then AOC is definitely a "cultural star" of sorts. Just look at the GQ photos of her, and then read the entirely laudatory, completely uncritical story penned by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Wesley Lowery.

According to GQ, AOC is “Arguably more famous than any other person in American politics without the last name Obama or Trump”?

Really? More famous than Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney, George W. Bush, and Beto O’Rouke?

If you're already an AOC fan, you'll LOVE this article. Here are a few excerpts to whet your appetite.

According to GQ, AOC is:

“The clear heir to an ascendant progressive movement....”

“a democratic-socialist David standing atop her Establishment Goliath, hoop earrings and a bold red lip in place of a shepherd’s sling…”

And there's more!

"The story of the bartender who improbably swept into Congress is by now legend…”

“In the whirlwind of the past three years,… she’s grown from being a well-recognized politician to a bona fide culture celebrity….”

“Whatever Ocasio-Cortez decides to do, another top progressive operative added, will be 'consequential for every single person who cares about the future of the country.'”

At one point she channels Robert Bly's Iron John men's movement talk. Elsewhere she discusses what might be called the TED TALK-IFICATION OF AMERICA:

“'The most powerful and persuasive things a person can say on any given issue,' she told me that first day we met in her office, 'is sharing their personal experience and personal story.'”

And in case you're not already in love with AOC, there's this:

"Tears pooled in the corners of her eyes. 'I hold two contradictory things [in mind] at the same time. One is just the relentless belief that anything is possible,' she said. 'But at the same time, my experience here has given me a front-row seat to how deeply and unconsciously, as well as consciously, so many people in this country hate women. And they hate women of color.'”
